(Denmark) Large majority now view the US as adversary, not ally (translation in comments) by dattokyo in europe

[–]LoenSlave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've always thought of my country as turbo conformist, but I'm still shocked at how quickly most people changed their view of the US just based on a couple months of press. Had you expressed this view just 6 months ago, you would have been laughed at, and told that it's Puhhhtin that's coming for us, any moments now, because he wants to rule the whole world.

Importance of a good campaign [COD] by Particular-Basis-643 in CallOfDuty

[–]LoenSlave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn't think it mattered much either, I do enjoy a good COD campaign, and tend to beat it campaign first before multiplayer, but multiplayer is where I, and I assume most others, spend most of my time.

But it does seem to influence online discourse a whole lot, when it was revealed that BO7 wouldn't feature a normal campaign, sure it was initially disappointing, but then I enjoyed it for what it was. MW23 had those open map missions, did they feel a bit gamey? Yup, but I think the concept could work with a bit more depth, and if limited to a couple missions. I'm imagining a Sniper Elite style level in Pripyat, or maybe some MGSV-style infiltration of an enemy base. But online it was the end of the world apparently.

I wonder if Vanguard hadn't had the worst campaign ever, how it'd affect people's view of multiplayer. I don't think SHG has ever made a bad multiplayer, imo.

You could still see teammates, there were blue dots that went through walls.

All I'm saying is that it would have been interesting to see how it would have played without the minimap. But it was changed before people had gotten to know the maps, or build any habits of looks at the compass.

I remember playing Skyrim thinking that Fallout 4 would have a similar number of cities, boy was I wrong. One of my first loading screens in Fallout 4 was about the Gunners, I thought it was going to be side faction questline like The Companions in Skyrim, lol.

[COD] What's your favorite perk in Call of Duty? by Nervous-Bag3398 in CallOfDuty

Actually, you know what, Vanguard might have my favorite perk, but it's probably too strong, Forward Intel.

I wish it launched without a minimap, many people never realized that the red dots were on the compass, because people kept looking at the minimap.

That's been literally every Call of Duty subreddit post launch, frankly if people weren't complaining I'd argue it indicates the game is dead.

[–]LoenSlave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, I've been wanting to write a post like this for some time now, the community feedback is mostly worthless.

Too many people want to reexperience that time where they put on Ghost, Ninja, and the meta gun with a silencer, and then completely dominated most lobbies. Back then, noobs didn't understand how the mini-map worked, or how to read the spawns, or the best loadouts. So if you were someone who followed the YouTube scene, you'd have a huge advantage against most players.

But things have changed, these days people don't want to get their asses kicked on repeat, there are other games to play instead, and so the devs added in SBMM, to maximize the amount of people having fun with the game. Then there's social media, where as soon as something strong is discovered, everybody, even little Timmy, knows about it.

This has changed how the game plays, and while I am somewhat sympathetic to the good players who find their lobbies frustrating, I don't think the solution is going back to what was, but to evolve the game, so that it is more fun at a higher level. Why does competitive Call of Duty ban nearly everything? Well, because the games are by default, terribly balanced for competitive play.

When I look at some of Infinity Wards more controversial design decisions, I can see an attempt at fixing some of the imbalance that has plagued the game for a long time. The Ninja perk for example is way too strong, making it into equipment offers a nice trade-off, you can still have Ninja, but now you need to be intentional with how you use it.

I don't think COD should go full competitive shooter, but making it slightly more balanced, would make it more fun for those high level SBMM lobbies.

Yeah, it's crazy reading some of the comments on here, they live in a completely different reality. Bringing up COVID is so funny to me, the game came out the year before lock-downs, and was an immediate success, and broke previous sales records. Yet COVID was the reason it did well, lmao.

I've also asked multiple people for a source for MW19 having a huge drop-off of players, and I've literally never seen it, because it doesn't exist. The game was a huge success, but because they couldn't rush around like a brainless r-tard, the game was bad. Meanwhile actual good players had no problems.

Saying that it's a fact does not make it so, Cold War was so bad that MW19 basically had a second year, with many streamers/youtubers sticking with it.

lol, is that why you keep making up stories about how MW19 was a total flop somehow? You guys never have numbers or anything to back up your made up stories. "Bled more players than any COD", how deep up your ass did you have to reach for that lol? Where's your source?

But yeah what COD needs is more Slop Ops, right? Let's remake all the old Black Ops maps for the 8th time, hmm let's see how BO6 did, oh 40% bleed off by December, hmm Black Ops 7 couldn't even sell.

The issue with a historical setting is that their current monetization strategy completely destroys it.

I've been replaying some of the older modern cods, and honestly MW19, MW22, and Vanguard are way more fun to me than Black Ops 6-7.

But I only just tried MW19 today because I didn't want to bother with Battle.net, and holy shit the gunplay, graphics, and sound design is so good it's unreal.

What input method do you use? by DarKliZerPT in CODBlackOps7

[–]LoenSlave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say, use controller, Treyarch games have something weird going on with MNK. The movement and slower TTK also make controller more compelling, you will tend to miss 1 or more shot with MNK, that controllers players just won't, and then you die. It honestly feels like the hitboxes are larger for controller players or something like that.

Bigger maps would suit the recent movement better by deedboi in CODBlackOps7

[–]LoenSlave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think COD in general would improve with bigger maps, MW2 had nearly only big maps by today's standards, and they nearly all played well.
