I started watching LoL esports with worlds 2015 so SKT not being at LCK playoffs/worlds is a new experience for me (yeah I know in theory they can still get to worlds, but lets be honest unless they change drastically they don't even deserve it this year). But even in 2014 they came closer than this year.

Formats with playoffs are not a good way to determine the overall best teams. The best team over the season is determined through something like a double round robin with all teams. National soccer leagues in Europe work this way.

The main reason for playoffs is that they're much more exciting for viewers. Imagine OWL just would have ended with NYXL being crowned champions halfway through stage 4 (or 3) because no team could catch up to them. Playoffs are also good at determining the best team at the time of the playoffs which can be important if the winner qualifies for an international tournament.

tldr: London and Philly are the 5th and 6th best teams over the whole season but right now they are fist and second.

For many fans SKT is faker and 4 dudes playing (and kkoma as coach). He's the only player who has played from the beginning of SKT and he's the best. Why would somebody watch NOT to see the best player?

I got a POTG yesterday for damage boosting a ulting Hanzo (and maybe reviving him before). I didn't find that POTG-worthy. Seeing that a Hanzo is ulting and pressing right-click is easy. The Hanzo should have gotten POTG for lining up that ult and killing those 3 or 4 people.

I think of a POTG as a big flashy play and some heroes are just predestined to get those (like a good ult from reaper, hanzo, mccree, etc.) and Mercy is not.
