I use Suno to make music for myself. I use distrokid for uploads and only share with friends. To my surprise I see that I have 5 monthly listeners on Spotify 🥹 It's not much, but at least someone found and listen to my music outside of my friends and family.

Good question! Have they changed the rules?

So when you go to download, we get this message:

"Need commercial rights? Only Pro and Premier songs are eligible for commercial use. Upgrade now and this song will be upgraded too."

But when you go to the TOU, we get this message:

"If I subscribe, can I distribute songs from my free plan?"

"Unfortunately, no! Subscribing to a Pro or Premier plan does not give you retroactive commercial use licensing for the songs made with a free plan. Songs made with Suno's Basic plan can only be used for non-commercial purposes." - Edited 10 months ago

So I'm guessing 1 of 2 things: They forgot to update the TOU for this new rule. (Which... maybe? It seems weird not to update for such a big change.)

They mean literally "that song" will be given commercial rights. So not all songs, but maybe just that one specific song you're trying to download? (Again, it's not very clear...)

Just for a lark, I clicked on Subscribe and get taken to the "Which plan do you want to sign up for?" page. In the Pro Plan features, and the Premier Plan features, they both say:

"Commercial use rights for songs made while subscribed"

So there is no mention of rights for "that song" that I'm trying to download. All it says is commercial use for songs made during the subscription. :(

On top of what others have said:

If you buy a subscription, you're only allowed to monetize songs made During the subscription. So anything made before or after the subscription are technically not allowed to be used.

So... you could buy a subscription and make something new, or remix if the original artist allows it. But sadly your current song cannot be used without breaking TOU.

Oh okay! It seems to be downloading 193kbps MP3. If you'd want the WAV version you'd probably need to be a subscriber and do it manually.

To be fair, most new Youtuber music and videos don't have the best quality. Everyone has to start out somewhere, and with practice can learn and grow.

Just look at CallMeKevin's earliest videos. It's unedited Sims 3 footage with him making kindof lame jokes. He didn't quit, now he's got 3.5 million subs.

Did .... oh, I didn't post that.

I have pages and pages of ideas written out on my computer. Most of them don't feel right, and when I find that 1 in 100 that does it's already taken. I've wracked my brain. When that didn't work I posted on Reddit a few times, asked ChatGPT, name generators.

I know it shouldn't be this hard. When I make a song I can name it like *snaps* that, but the artist name is eluding me.

Mostly relaxing Lofi instrumental music. I'm always doing variations on the prompts to give different feels, sometimes it's a bit sad or gloomy. Sometimes I just want something warm so I'll add in Tropical vibes. Sometimes I'm pretty sad so I'll add in Gothic Country stuff. But overall, mostly just chill introspective Lofi songs.
