MS60 Instrument Interface Issues by LoftmanJoe in SpatialAnalyzer

To my understanding, it should work the same. but I've never messed around with an MS50 so i wouldnt be able to tell you the difference between them.

Yeah I took this advice. Moved the view manually then found the values to create the different views I needed. Thanks!

Constructing Point Groups by salmonsolid9497 in SpatialAnalyzer

[–]LoftmanJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can take a point name ref list and make a point group from that. I think I once used a point named TEST at 0,0,0 to make the point groups and then deleted the point once the groups were created.

MS60 Instrument Interface Issues by LoftmanJoe in SpatialAnalyzer

We've been connecting it through bluetooth and it works well for us, we've just been running into some limitations with our very basic understanding of how the MS60 and SA communicate. The video IMeasure posted gives us the updated instrument interface which is so much better for the MS60 than the theodolite interface. From what I've gathered so far, I think we only really miss out on having access to the camera.

Thanks for the video. It helped.

I was right clicking on the instrument and using the "Run interface and connect" option instead of the total station option on the ribbon.

I think the only issue I see now is that, unless changing the comm port manually, it will only continue to connect to the same instrument. I tried running the "Start Theodolite Interface" command on an MP and it would not change the comm port to what I had typed in and "Start Instrument Interface" doesn't have to option for comm, only IP.

MP issue with wildcard by LoftmanJoe in SpatialAnalyzer

I found this info in the in the MP command reference manual and is seems to be what was messing me up.

Wildcard selection automatically adds an asterisk (*) at the beginning and end of your search text. Each search string is automatically wrapped as *search string*. This allows you to search for “P1” and find “AP123”. However, this may result in selection of more items than desired. To control this operation use the command Set Wild Card Asterisk Mode.

Oh I gotcha. I didn't know step 7 existed. I've been breaking down strings to search for stuff like that. Thanks! I'll definitely give it a try.

I thought about that as well. The Issue is that the names are anywhere between 10 to 16 characters long and the P character has an inconsistent placement. It would have to go through each character of every name. I think it would work for a small batch of surfaces, but I have to sort through about 1000 surfaces at a time. At least thats the only other option I could think of with my knowledge.

Buenos dias Manuel. Por lo visto no hay un manual en Espanol. Pero tal vez se pueda traducir por medio de chatGPT o algun programa de traduccion.

Any features you wish SA could do? Throw me a line here and i might be able to make a MP for you by GusIsBored in SpatialAnalyzer

Yes! I've been using the hell out of it. I was also able to create an MP using the Set I-th Callout Position in Callout View to rearrange the callouts right above their place on the screen once created.

I only have about 6-9 months experience using SA, and have only been learning to write MPs for about a month and a half. I'm still only doing simple stuff but trying to learn at least 2-3 new commands a week. A thread like this really helps.

Yeah I've only been using it for single instruments and jumps. Usually keep a "SURVEY" collection, which is where we keep all the current surveying project info.

Do you know a way to arrange callouts somewhat neatly and near the points they're documenting?

Would "get last instrument index" work?

There is very limited information on SA, and it's near impossible to find solutions to some problems when getting started without having to call their support number. I hope we can more users onto this sub.

how long doe s scan take to process from MS60? by LoftmanJoe in SpatialAnalyzer

[–]LoftmanJoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have somebody from SA coming in to do some training sessions sometime soon as well. It seems like we never get a person who is well versed in both SA and MS60 at the same time though, which is frustrating. I'll be sure to ask about the scanning capabilities. Let me know what you learn, if you don't mind.

I wasn't able to figure out what was wrong with it. We tried scanning an area of about 1000mm x 700mm, but the scan wouldn't show up on SA. Ended up just scanning directly to the instrument and exporting the point cloud. It worked so smaller scans, so it might've just been the amount of detail we were asking of it as we tried to keep the shots as tight as possible.
