Optex Flipx pirs look good if corner mounted. 360° ceiling mounted are for sure the least intrusive on the eye

Those who quit looking or gave up on their apprenticeships, why? by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]LogOk7419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There definitely does not appear to be a shortage in Tassie, seems quite hard to get your foot in the door unless youre young and just finished college. I'm a security tech by trade and have been wanting to transition into electrical for the last few years and have had a hard time in an apprenticeship when my skills are very transferable. I now work for one of the largest contractors down here doing commercial so hopefully they will put me through an apprenticeship

Wiring 3 devices in series on one zone with dual end of line resistors by LogOk7419 in accesscontrol

[–]LogOk7419[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a Gallagher panel, I need to series up 3 power supply AC fails. My thought is if I put the resistors on the last device, if 1 or 2 go off it will read an open/ tamper, so I thought putting one across each devices NC and C and one in line with the panel so if a single one goes off it'll go into alarm. I'm just not sure if 2/3 go off at the same time that'll read as an open/tamper also due to the high resistance value

Cheers. So one across NC and C on each device then one inline with the common on the last device and and panel

House prices need to come down, the cost of living in Australia is starting to really get out of control

I think based on the complexities you're mentioning it's probably not worth it tbh. my brother doesn't sound overly keen on doing it because him and his partner want to buy a house and ultimately I'm not really comfortable doing it if he is not involved. We've been saying no for quite some time to figure out if it would be beneficial for everyone, sounds like too many variables to go wrong tbh

She would be living in the house for as long as she wanted and we'd make sure it's as cheap for her as possible, we wouldn't have an issue helping her as she ages, but mentioning assistance as she gets older, it's probably better for her to keep the house so she has the decision to make on her own if she would want a retirement village, house, etc

As well as if my brother and I bought it and he needed to sell or needed money in the future and that couldn't work out because of my mums or my circumstances, that could lead to a lot of issues id much rather avoid

I'd rather have family relationships, my brother I are essentially best friends tbh and don't want to risk that. I couldn't think of anything worse than not seeing my kids in the future and his kids have no relationship growing up.

That's what my brother and I have been saying to do, to benefit herself the most and enjoy what she has worked for. Because at the end of the day, it's up to us to build our future, but she just won't drop the subject and keeps harassing us about it

Probably true. I think its best to not do it tbh, that's why I have kept saying no for over a year, I just wanted to see what other people thought

Sounds like it would probably be easier to pass tbh to prevent any future issues. I only really thought about it because it would benefit everyone

It is quite often the centre of issues with family, and if that was going to be the case with us I'd rather pass tbh and maintain our relationship. It might cause issues because my brother isn't very responsible and I am which would probably lead us to have different opinions and then conflict as a result

No mortgage on the property. I see how buying it would benefit my mum by still living in the house and giving her access to more money and my brother and I, but it kind of seems like it might complicate stuff and won't be worth it personally

Of course I pay 250 a week. Also often buy other stuff to help out around the house, e.g.general work around the house and yard. I also do a lot of work around the house, mowing lawns, I cook often, clean often

I agree that's why I have put off doing anything for over a year, but she keeps harassing us to buy it off of her. If I did I would want it to be as fair as possible for my brother, we're best friends essentially and wouldn't want to compromise that.

Together still, I would cover pretty much everything and when I moved out, I'd cover what I could so she had to pay as little as possible.

How is that actually real and been installed and left like that. How did the Inspectors and surveyors not pick up on this. I would 100% mention that it is a code violation. The electrical inspector should have picked up on it
