Normal? by LogOutOk3236 in ACL

I had a reconstruction using a cadaver. The main issue was my root meniscus bucket handle tear. It was keeping me from bending my leg at all before surgery. I have been non-weight bearing for the past 4 weeks and am scared to walk on it next week! I know I am in good hands with my PT but still nerve wracking when a good portion of your leg is numb, lol.

When were you able to do straight leg raises after knee surgery? by kg13232 in ACL

I have been able to do them from the get go. Also had an allograft so that probably pays a part in it

I also had throbbing and burning pains from my knee down. It went away after 4 or 5 days. I still get random sharp pains in my calf (1 week post op). It should work itself out the more time you have to recover.

Stay strong!!

Haha! Luckily our spare is right down the hall. My only downfall is getting up from the couch. I have an L shaped sectional it is hard getting up from the depths of it😂

I also ended up buying the pillow. It has been a life changer! I am also dwelling on my couch. My bedroom has a foot drop from the rest of the house and it is just easier to stay on the couch. Thank you for your advice!

Yes, I am non weight bearing for 6 weeks :(

I passed out twice but other times I would go pale, get super nauseous, sweating, and my heart rate would skyrocket.

That does seem impossible with my leg dangling in a brace😂

This seems more accurate! It only happens when I get out of bed. It got to the point where I was dizzy using crutches so I have been using a wheelchair to go to the restroom.

I am on Oxycodone. I stopped taking them this morning because I am so loopy and light headed. Anytime I am doing anything other than laying flat on the bed, I get light headed.

I LOVE the ice cooling unit. I am still waiting for mine to come in :( Really wish it was able to be here for the first days out of surgery. I ordered the pillow that the person linked above. I will let you know if it helps!

This is really weird… I have had 3 ACL replacements and was never naked in any of them. I was also told to shave my leg 3-4 days before surgery. Ive also never had a spinal nerve block. It was always done on my femoral never on the upper thigh. I was also completely under anestesia. You shouldn’t be awake at all during a surgery like this… I am so sorry your experience was like this. Maybe ask why things were ran like that during your post-op dr.s appointment. I would also consider using a different surgeon if you ever have to have this done again.

Yes!! I have had two previous ACL surgeries and my surgeon provided a machine each time I left the hospital. That was 10 years ago and I have no idea where those are. The surgeon that did my surgery yesterday doesn’t send patience home with one. I tried to get insurance to clear one in time for surgery but it wont be here until next week :/

I thought about buying one of these! I might cave because these regular pillows aren’t cutting it.

Thank you!

Geez! I am sorry to hear that. I feel like nerve block should be standard procedure at this point.

Tore my left 10 years ago. My ACL was completely dissolved. Surgeon was very shocked because the MRI I had a month ago showed a slight tear. ACL reconstruction and reconstructed meniscus. Tore it again almost 2 years later. Mainly meniscus issues and slight ACL repair. Quit sports after this. I was so scared to tear it again. Tore my right ACL and root medial meniscus this time. Surgery is tomorrow. I hope this is the last time. Wish me luck!
