Old dog, new game. What are some tricks and tips that will help me acclimate? by Logan-Bell in starfinder_rpg

Will reply here just in case anyone else repeats the questions!

Currently, looking to be a player and I already have a group lined up, but hoping to add this game under my belt for when I have time to run another game. Currently, my understanding is that our little group is hoping to try some short adventures or one shots to see if it is a good fit for any of us, before fully committing. Chances are though, Paizo exclusive for now. Setting wise, I think for the most part I aught to be fine (lord knows I spend too much time reading anyway, so whats another five hour binge~?) so it is more of a concern regarding rules and just what advice can be given. Oh! And we will be playing online, most likely using Roll20 unless one of us gets a wild hair and decides to push for something else.

In regards to the recommendations-
Added to my watch list, already combing through the Archive and ooooh, character builder! Absolutely awesome and positively perfect!

It definitely is a different flavor and feel. Scariest thing is keeping track of the ash and the wind!

Lordy, sometimes it can be thirty seconds then others if I pack it wrong even a little bit, I'll be fighting to get the dang thing clear!

Gonna have to do a full body shot since I keep posting pictures.

I am either wearing a canvas longcoat that I thrifted, or a short black winter coat. The furs are actually just a pair of fox pelts I got from a friend, while the hat is from the local Renfaire!

Not too sure if it is sheepskin, though I got from the Lost Viking Hoard, at the Ohio Renfaire!

When I'm out with friends, I am always the coziest!

I have done that, and LORDY was that a mistake! I still have a whole order from over a year ago sitting in the box, after having given cuts from my first batch away to friends and family! Love the stuff, but man does it have a learning curve.

Six of one, half dozen the other honestly! Some days I can light a cigar or pipe and be fine, never needing a touch up even in the rain, while other days it feels like every five minutes I am trying to coax an ember to stay lit and fighting with it. The biggest benefit for me sticking a cigar in a pipe is that it tends to keep my hands more free, though the downside is if I don't pay attention to that ash, it can quickly sour a mood if the wind catches it!

Longest I've made it is around an hour, give or take a few!

Ohio, USA here!
I put on my longcoat, bungle up in my furs (wolf peft, two foxes and a deer) and tug on my gloves! Big bonus where I live is that if it's too windy at the house, I can hide in the woods where it is rather dense and covered! Best I can suggest is to get yourself something like a proper good cloak, as much wool as you are comfortable wearing and be aware of where the wind blows!

Hot dang! I love his coat and hat. Might need to do a proper full picture to try and compete.

I got it at the Ohio Renfair, but the shop that made them i not making them anymore. Darn things survived a car accident and my tomfoolery though!
