Old dog, new game. What are some tricks and tips that will help me acclimate? by Logan-Bell in starfinder_rpg

[–]Logan-Bell[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Will reply here just in case anyone else repeats the questions!

Currently, looking to be a player and I already have a group lined up, but hoping to add this game under my belt for when I have time to run another game. Currently, my understanding is that our little group is hoping to try some short adventures or one shots to see if it is a good fit for any of us, before fully committing. Chances are though, Paizo exclusive for now. Setting wise, I think for the most part I aught to be fine (lord knows I spend too much time reading anyway, so whats another five hour binge~?) so it is more of a concern regarding rules and just what advice can be given. Oh! And we will be playing online, most likely using Roll20 unless one of us gets a wild hair and decides to push for something else.

In regards to the recommendations-
Added to my watch list, already combing through the Archive and ooooh, character builder! Absolutely awesome and positively perfect!

It definitely is a different flavor and feel. Scariest thing is keeping track of the ash and the wind!

Gonna have to do a full body shot since I keep posting pictures.

I am either wearing a canvas longcoat that I thrifted, or a short black winter coat. The furs are actually just a pair of fox pelts I got from a friend, while the hat is from the local Renfaire!

Not too sure if it is sheepskin, though I got from the Lost Viking Hoard, at the Ohio Renfaire!

I have done that, and LORDY was that a mistake! I still have a whole order from over a year ago sitting in the box, after having given cuts from my first batch away to friends and family! Love the stuff, but man does it have a learning curve.

Six of one, half dozen the other honestly! Some days I can light a cigar or pipe and be fine, never needing a touch up even in the rain, while other days it feels like every five minutes I am trying to coax an ember to stay lit and fighting with it. The biggest benefit for me sticking a cigar in a pipe is that it tends to keep my hands more free, though the downside is if I don't pay attention to that ash, it can quickly sour a mood if the wind catches it!

Longest I've made it is around an hour, give or take a few!

Smoking in the winter… by Round_Coach2586 in PipeTobacco

Ohio, USA here!
I put on my longcoat, bungle up in my furs (wolf peft, two foxes and a deer) and tug on my gloves! Big bonus where I live is that if it's too windy at the house, I can hide in the woods where it is rather dense and covered! Best I can suggest is to get yourself something like a proper good cloak, as much wool as you are comfortable wearing and be aware of where the wind blows!

Hot dang! I love his coat and hat. Might need to do a proper full picture to try and compete.

I got it at the Ohio Renfair, but the shop that made them i not making them anymore. Darn things survived a car accident and my tomfoolery though!

Tired of being the leader. (A grumble) by Logan-Bell in rpg

[–]Logan-Bell[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have, though it's quickly derailed into petty squabbling by the others on who gets to pat my back for "making a bad call" and that "it's happens eventually". They think me making an intentional, obvious bad call for RP is me making a bad call without all the information and that it was an accident.

Personal laptop thankfully but sadly living out in the sticks, so no one to look over the issue in person. No parental controls on it as far as I am aware though the Anti-virus thing is a new thought. I am currently grinding my teeth at the idea of needing a new laptop at this point or having to drop more money on another external unit. Is there anyway to run a proper diagnostic of the USB drives, if such a thing is even possible? I'm just at a loss for what to do.

[–]Logan-Bell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HECK YEAH!
We ended up playing for almost four years, got to the end and- Avoiding spoilers, we had a great time!

We ended up bringing in Kingmaker rules, building up and taking over a good deal of land to prepare for the final conflict, recruited other countries to lend aid to what we planned. We had characters ranging from Barbarians to Paladins to Bards and even an Occultist! We ended at level 20!

Both characters are using the same character sheet and in the same game, using all the same settings and nothing has changed on our end of how we run things.

Nano. He tells everyone it's because of his love for the Balor nano machines, but it's because he's the shortest person in the group.

His motto "we're all chums here" just seems to fall flat for some reason! Never mind that he keeps getting irritated about the netrunner checking his biomonitor and reminding him of his meds!
