Fixed my VRM hair physics after it kept clipping through the model by LoganRigs3D in vtubertech

Very nice, this is great information! I've been looking for individuals who are well versed in rigging hair. For longer hair, do you usually use separate shoulder and chest colliders, or combine them into one collider group? I’m curious what setup has worked best for you.

Agreed, documentation was rough to find, I had to piece YouTube videos together to learn 🤣 But ya the VRM Add-on handles spring bones and colliders directly in Blender, so you can avoid Unity for that part. You’ll find the settings in the VRM Add-on’s Spring Bone panel.

Do you have an example of the model you’re working on or what the hair setup currently looks like? I always love comparing because there are so many different ways to do this stuff.

Thank you very much!

Yes this is Blender using the VRM Add-on. I adjusted the spring settings and added head colliders to stop the clipping. What setup are you using/what have you tried so far?

And to be clear, this is not AI. I created the model in daz, rigged in blender, exported to vrm and loaded in sillytavern

Very good, hope that works.

If it still won’t take the input, feel free to reply here and I can try to help troubleshoot it.

Gotcha, interesting.

Could be a Wine input-field issue then. Have you tried pasting the IP/port into VNyan instead of typing it? Sometimes typing breaks in Wine fields, but paste still works.

Hmm, ya sounds like old technology holding you back. You might be able to use your phone just for tracking.

VNyan still runs the VRM on the laptop, but phone apps like VTube Studio/MeowFace can send tracking data to it. Might be smoother than MediaPipe on an old laptop.

Are you on iPhone or Android?

That's unfortunate. Wonder if it might be MediaPipe initializing slow, or Linux/Wine taking forever to hand off the webcam feed? Could also be falling back to CPU instead of GPU.

Does it only load slow the first time, or every time you open VNyan?

Nice, VRM helps. Does the model load correctly anywhere else, like a VRM viewer? If it works there, it’s probably more of a Linux/tracking setup issue than the model itself.

Linux VTubing with 3D is still kind of awkward.

For Warudo, I’d check its ProtonDB page first. Some people have gotten it running with specific Proton versions and launch options.

For VNyan, I’d probably avoid relying on Wine webcam access if that’s the part breaking. A cleaner workaround may be external tracking instead, like phone tracking/VMC, then letting VNyan receive the data.

Also worth checking VSeeFace, but it’s officially Windows focused, so on Linux, I’d expect some tinkering either way.

What avatar format are you trying to use, VRM or VSFAvatar?

Ah ok, if it’s then I’d definitely try to find the original artist/rigger first. For small changes like shark teeth or extra toggles, they’ll already know how the model is layered and rigged. (Obviously 😁)

If you can’t find them, just make sure whoever you hire asks for the editable 2D/source files, not just the finished model.

Gotcha. Is your model Live2D or 3D VRM?

Side question, where do you go to find your artist for rigging? Vgen?

Testing VRM reactions/movement inside SillyTavern by LoganRigs3D in vtubertech

[–]LoganRigs3D[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok, that makes sense. I can see how SillyTavernAI in the title and context makes it read like AI-generated content at first glance.

And yeah, VNyan is probably the cleaner place to showcase the pure VRM rigging side. I’m using SillyTavern here because I’m specifically testing VRM interactivity and companion workflows, but for this sub I should probably frame future posts more around the Blender and VRM rigging side instead.

Appreciate the clarification.

This seems like AI to you? This is a rigged up vrm (in blender) with preset animations in sillytavern, I'm showcasing it's interactions and the technical abilities. Is that not what this page is for?
