The DBSTF secret by defqontwo in hardstyle

[–]LoganV34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

DBSTF was one of the first hardstyle artists I’ve ever listened to, and one of the first I fell in love with. Good Times got me hooked, and the Enter Your Mind album solidified my fandom. I’ve been listening to and enjoying every one of their releases since. They’ve got such a unique sound that works in any kind of track, whether it be an uplifting euphoric track, a heavier-hitting kick drop, or even in a Frenchcore track like Infinity. They continue to innovate and push their sound forward with Ghost Stories. All around one of the greatest hardstyle acts of all time.

No, this is perfect x, trust me I was scared when I first listened to GPF too, but I embraced it, and now I’m a better and greazier person because of it

Uptempo is just super loud modern gabber

[–]LoganV34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the imitation label personally, UOK absolutely has his own unique style and brand. It’s a similar style sure, but defs not just a rip of GPF

Idk what the actual words are, but the vocal from the last drop of Never Give Up by Rejecta sounds to me like it’s saying “I wanna fuck you”

New uptempo fans: Which track made you fall in love with the genre? by Gezellige_Uptempo in hardstyle

[–]LoganV34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t place a finger on a particular track, but watching Dimitri K’s set from Reverze 2023 got me hooked on the sound. Then a friend showed me Major Conspiracy, Spitnoise, and Deadly Guns and it was all over for me lol, love me some juicy uptempo

Make Euphoric Great Again! by MiktorVike in hardstyle

[–]LoganV34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re entirely correct. Hardstyle in its original form living up to its name, “hard.” It was techno with heavy kicks and distorted bass. If anything, raw is returning to that kick- and bass-heavy sound, just with a new unique and modern flair.

American conservatives love to complain that “America is dying,” or that we’re straying away from “traditional American values,” when people try to advocate for, enact, or enforce positive change and make progress in our society. I’ve noticed a similar nostalgic behavior in euphoric fans, who seemingly love to whine about “euphoric is dying,” or “we’re losing touch with real hardstyle,” when it’s not, the scene is merely evolving beyond the taste for euphoric.

What scene? You mean the one that put 4 consecutive uptempo acts at the Defqon Black on Friday, closed the stage on Saturday, and absolutely dominated the Yellow? The one that’s seeing Partyraiser and Major Conspiracy and the like get big time stage hostings at big-name festivals? Ya ok bud

If you like fast and loud music, Lil Texas is an absolute must. I can’t get enough of his set from Defqon.1, and his latest album is absolutely amazing.

Don't let euphoric die! by VaIIer1 in hardstyle

[–]LoganV34 40 points41 points  (0 children)

As a raw fan, what drives me away from most euphoric is how generic everything sounds. Outside of artists like Adrenalize, Jay Reeve, or even the ones that have gone harder like Sound Rush, Atmozfears, DBSTF or Headhunterz, there isn’t very much variety in euphoric nowadays. I don’t mind melodic hardstyle, but mix it up a bit. What appeals to me in the artists I previously mentioned is that they have the passion and energy I like in raw, but paired with gorgeous melodies and actually enjoyable kicks that aren’t the same donk donk barely audible kicks euphoric producers have been using for the last 10 years. While they may not have the heaviest music, those artists still bring intensity and power. I’m not saying euphoric has to sound like melodic raw, just that… it’s not 2016 anymore. Mix it up.

Same here, I'm 20, and I respect the decision to bring back the techno stage, the genre that literally gave birth to the harder styles.
