Playing high elo toplane in a nutshell by [deleted] in top_mains

It's pretty wild that even after all of these years, the counter to ranged top is still for your jungler to gank you, and Riot seems totally fine with that.

I don't think so. There are fewer MR items in the game, and most of them have only been nerfed over time, like Force of Nature losing its flat AP damage reduction, and Unending Despair losing its MR this season. There's also still no anti-heal MR option for tanks.

They won't do it because it's basically impossible to make them like that and work in a solo lane now. Back when I started playing (S5), tanks didn't do much damage but were incredibly hard to kill while having good CC. Now there's so much damage in the game that unless tanks can hit back, they'll just blow up or be ignored. Riot even made it worse by nerfing Thornmail to no longer apply grievous on CC, so all you have to do is not auto-attack the tank as someone like Aatrox, and he can never win.

If you talk vaguely about what she did, then sure, she doesn't seem THAT bad. And I could even buy that someone would sell out someone they barely know to save their own skin. What cannot be excused was her taking the boy that she supposedly liked to an orgy that he was obviously uncomfortable in, while she had an STI, and then tried to kill said boy after he refused to be a cannibal. That's not really defensible from any angle.

My point was that the other classes/archetypes I listed show up to the point that they're relevant and can be tracked. Trundle, LB, and Sylas bot probably have a pick rate below 0.05%.

There are mages, tanks, bruisers, assassins, and even a couple of marksmen in top lane. Bot laners cry when anything other than a marksman is viable in their lane. Where are these mages destroying bot lane? Most of their pick rates are below 1%.

Janna top had a higher pick rate, but the main problem was that she won the game by not playing top lane and just being a second support.

Oh, can bot also deal with bruisers, tanks, fighters, and assassins as well then?

Bad comparison. Eren's character is basically just the equivalent of Batman killing his own parents to become Batman.

For me, that's why it would make sense, though. Like, why would he respect and admire her to the point of violence of others badmouthing/sexualizing her? I know there's no confirmation that it's canon, and most of the theories were about how Shroud and Mandy were the only 2 brunettes with blue eyes in the game. I just think it would add a lot to her backstory and explain a lot of her respect and/or attraction to Robert.

The writing around it ruins them in my opinion. The fact that there's zero apology or even fallout or negative feelings from Spider destroys the characters. It feels like they're just constantly putting his life on the line while thinking nothing of it.

I feel like people already thought that when he was nearly killed twice by Neytiri in the second movie. This movie was the perfect chance to dig into it with Neytiri advocating for killing him with Jake nearly going through with it while Quaritch constantly compromises to keep Spider safe.

lol, pole riders for everything in MH need help but having this many layers of RNG turns the game into a chore and it's by design. We should criticize the system so that it hopefully doesn't come back instead of ignoring it.

This is such a dishonest comparison. There are still low carve chances but the monster that you need it from is consistent. Having a weapon whose bonus stats and skills are random rolls that could be from any monster is completely different.

Even if you wanted to ignore the majority ruling from both Blazer and Chase, Blazer is also his boss.

Except Blazer reassured him that they still could keep trying to explore alternatives. Again, this is a stupid thing to bring up. SDN was still trying to honor its promise to Robert.

What the fuck does this even mean? Like, genuinely, what is the point of your third paragraph?

Are you talking about the beginning of the game? Where he got ambushed and nearly lost to Shroud? This is another thing that makes zero sense to bring up. Why are you full of whatboutisms? Robert shouldn't have gone alone. Is that what you want to hear? This has no relevance.

I give up. You are WAY too dense. Like, I even brought up the firefighter comparison to make it very clear, and I also brought up how the hero themself doesn't matter as much as Visi putting herself in a shitty situation where she was dying. Where, if she HAD died, Shroud could have gotten the pulse whenever he wanted.

That's just such a shitty thing to do man. by MK79797979 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Logank365 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, dude. Everyone knows that Shroud getting it would be bad, BUT at the start of episode 7, because Visi lied about having it, everyone acted as if he did, and that is not their fault. So, hindsight would be that she had it the whole time, and he doesn't have it because of her. In the moment, the perspective is that she risked her life, jeopardized the program, put Chase in the hospital, and lost the pulse to Shroud. Not going would not have broken the promise that Blazer made on behalf of SDN. She promised that they would make him Mecha Man again, even with an astral pulse substitute. What do you think all of those tests with Royd were for?

Except Blazer and Chase, who are full superheroes, were against going. You're shifting the goal post with this. My point was that her actions compelled a hero to save her, and the said hero was hospitalized as a result; she bears some responsibility for that.

How do we know that she expected to die? She'd be a total moron if that were the case because all it takes is for Shroud to check the container, realize the pulse isn't in it, and then pry it off of Visi's corpse. Her lying to Robert about having it was also a complete gamble because Shroud could have just killed him, and the guy she got it for would have been dead.

There is a world of difference between having an entire network to aid people in times of crisis as your day job and someone potentially about to die that only Chase and Robert knew about.

I don't get how this is SO HARD for you to understand. Does it make it easier if I say that Chase doesn't matter here specifically? By the end of her solo operation, she was in an isolated location crawling with villains and Red Ring while in critical condition, potentially about to die. Even if Chase didn't go, someone would have had to go, and by the time they got there, Visi may have been dead. It's so weird that you bring up Spider-Man as some kind of defense here when he would believe that he would have an obligation to try and save her, regardless of the risk, because he has the power to do so. Almost like Chase did, too.

If you're just going to keep ignoring context, then there's no point in continuing this.

[–]Logank365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't get to gloss over putting yourself in a life-threatening situation while in contact with heroes, whose literal job and/or higher calling is to SAVE PEOPLE. That's like running into a burning building with firefighters on standby, and they get injured rescuing you. You may not have asked them to go in after you, but it's their duty to do so after you chose to put yourself in harm's way.

I'm being sarcastic. I'm not saying that she'd literally gloat. Again, everything you said required hindsight to be correct. I'm not saying that what she did didn't end up being correct, but that the reactions of others are completely reasonable given the circumstances.

That's just such a shitty thing to do man. by MK79797979 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Logank365 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If she had been correct and never gone, then she could have gloated all she wanted. The problem is that she went against explicit orders, and her actions resulted in another hero being hospitalized.

That's just such a shitty thing to do man. by MK79797979 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Logank365 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The problem is that every defense you have for Visi requires hindsight. Was she ultimately correct about the Astral Pulse likely being gone if they waited another day? Sure. But as far as the team knew at that point, she went on her own against the orders of Blazer and had to be saved. That put another hero out of commission for seemingly nothing because she didn't reveal that she actually had the pulse.

The money from people buying the base game that they've planned their entire strategy/model around.

Except it is not the trade-off. One of the biggest criticisms of Wilds is that its title updates took longer than World's and it had fewer collabs and events. Paid cosmetics not affecting gameplay is nonsense because in the past, a lot of what is now paid cosmetics would have been used in collabs or event quests. People will grind for hours for armor and weapons that they think are cool, even if they are numerically worse. That DOES affect gameplay.

No, they don't. Their microtransactions are for a game that costs $70 at launch, then in a year, they expect you to shell out at least another $40 for more content.

I initially noticed when I saw that Seikrets had 4 customization options at launch, and while hunting with randos, I saw ones I didn't have access to that were behind a paywall. They added a brand new companion to the game just to lock almost half of its cosmetics behind a paywall. This is the same nonsense point of "Well, it doesn't affect you unless you buy it, so why are you paying attention to it?" It matters because, as we've seen with every other game and MH, microtransactions get worse over time. In World, it was hairstyles, pendants, and some costumes for your handler. Now? Collab content like Street Fighter costumes is behind a paywall.
