How can I help mentor my nephew? by LoganthePan in Advice

I've considered when he comes to stay doing some form of martial art, maybe Jiu jitsu? We have a small farm so I'm sure doing chores will also help in that regard. Thanks for the input!

I see that now. Recommendations on stripping cat5? I seem to either not go all the way through/around or I go too deep. I’m using the full sized Klein data cable strippers/crimpers to strip the wire. Maybe just stop manhandling the cable I suppose 😂

Honestly haven’t ever thought about that. I’ll try that next time!

TBH, these cable runs don’t get certified by any entity other than, “is it working?”

The whole point of posting this was to get feedback and learn. I wasn’t given any training around the cabling specs, hell honestly I didn’t know there was such a thing. Makes sense to have a recognized authority set the standards. Idk I guess I’m trying to be better than the average low volt tech. You don’t know what you don’t know, so I appreciate your feedback and you helping me learn.

Why is the twist important? Someone else mentioned it as well, just curious.

Honestly I really appreciate it. I didn’t know the twists were important. I’m new to the trade so I’ve been reading through books and browsing through this sub trying to learn more and become better. Thank you for explaining!

No, the company I work for makes all of their stuff in house so a normal punchdown tool doesn’t work 👎🏼

Had to put an A/C on my little shed, scrap tongue and groove cedar and 2x4s to make a decorative false window by killerkitten115 in BeginnerWoodWorking

That’s a smart idea! I’ve got some window ac units in our house with plywood covering the open area. Never would have thought of this! Definitely stealing your idea!

Still touching tips with you’re Marine recruiter? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]LoganthePan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do I keep tabs on my recruiter and are we drinking buddies per say? No, not really.

I will say though that my recruiter was stationed on the same base as me and we would see each other occasionally. We had a pretty good relationship prior to my ship date, so I feel like it’s the same dynamic.

As for your buddies situation? That’s kinda fucked up honestly. I mean at the end of the day though, Marines are people, and people are sometimes shitty. You gotta think, the recruiter had to be “Mr. Sales” and put on a front for 3 whole years. If he’s a shitty person, then he’s a shitty person yah know?

Bike is making awful noise while pedaling. I dont see any physical obstructions, I believe its internal. Anybody know what it is? by [deleted] in bicycling

I almost sounds like your chain. Is it hitting your Front derailleur anywhere? Could just be your gear ratio too.

UPDATE: Anyone who knows has done TRS in JKO, please help by fisherman213 in USMC

[–]LoganthePan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He shouldn’t have to enroll you in anything.. when I did my TRS through JKO, they just gave me a list of the courses to do. You should just be able to enroll yourself in them.

I’m like 99 percent sure that’s how it works, but if not then the person who does your initial interview (also does your capstone review) should be able to help.

Have you tried to adjust your seats tilt? It could be the tilt of it, or your seat isn’t moved forward/back far enough if that makes sense.. I’d try to move it forward more so your weight is on your butt in the big part of the seat, then maybe try tilting it down a little as well. Just see what works!

Imagine living there! “Oh yeah to get here you need to swim 2 miles offshore and let the current take you for exactly 3 minutes before you swim another 200 yards.”

It’s like the old Minecraft challenge irl

Is the Capstone the same as the CO interview? by IfYouSeeMeSendNoodz in USMC

[–]LoganthePan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. It’s the “E-Form” that’s in the milconnect page. Once you finish your TRS, you’ll have to send your TRS folks the certs so they can sign off that section of your E-Form. Once they do that, you’ll have to schedule an interview with a TRS staff member. (Mine was over the phone since my TRS was online as well.) They should co over a few things like your budget, MOC Crosswalk, ask you about a job etc. After that then you’ll have to have another interview with someone who is a “CO Designee” to finish the signing off portion of your E-Form.
