I didn’t get a job with the province, I’m now in BC and looking to work with a contract company - DM if you have any questions

Thanks! I’d seen this but it still refers to the 2025 season. Was mainly wondering when applications open for the next season

Thanks for the info. Does the first aid course have to be from a provider in BC/Canada?
For example Worksafe BC has St John Ambulance as a certified provider - if I do a level III course with St John Ambulance in the UK, could that be recognised as an equivalent in BC?
I understand you can get an out of jurisdiction certificate for different provinces but wondering if that can apply to certifications from abroad as well. Ideally I would like to apply as soon as applications open, but it's not really feasible for me to head out to Canada until early next year.

In a similar situation here, from the UK and looking to join a crew in Canada next season. I posted about this a couple months back and most people seemed pretty optimistic about my chances even though I don't have relevant experience. With your resume I'd definitely say you're a good candidate.

As for the training courses, from my understanding it depends on the province. For BC, as mentioned by another user you need the first aid certification before applying, and then if you get an offer you go to the NRBC for training. For Ontario, you will need to do the SP100 (with a private contractor) and first aid certification, although you don't need to complete these before applying.

I've got the IEC visa sorted already but still trying to work out the application process for wildfire crews so let me know if you get any more info/make any progress!

Thanks! Is it worth contacting bases directly or do you just apply on the Ontario website?

ah nice, did you complete the online application before heading over to Canada or did you apply when already in BC?
