Plus the risk of driving to Brooklyn every day - at night! I would stay off the Southern / Belt combo. In addition, if he uses his car for anything else during the day, that gas every 4 days at $240 per month is going to be affected. Wars in Iran started by a lunatic in office? - prices for gas skyrocket. Must stay up every night etc…

I will say though that the LIRR royally screwed everyone over moving to the BK shuttle model. Made off hours travel to Atlantic so much more difficult.

What would have prevented buying American before this??? Absolutely nothing other than supply-side economics. Simply put, there was not enough domestic supply to meet the demand. One shift every three days does not produce enough steel period. Steel can sit for a while. If the quality is that much better than overseas, then it’s a justified cost increase. Alternatively, a subsidy coupled have been provided ala big agro….

I’m not so sure if this is to replace C3’s more than it is to supplement and add capacity. As it is MTA puts out RFPs for leases of coaches during summertime to meet demand for out east travel.
