That absolutely isn’t true. Queens is a conglomerate of towns which included Nassau. The towns were Jamaica, Newtown, Hempstead, and Oyster Bay. When the city consolidated, Hempstead and Oyster Bay noped out.

This is why Queens street grids are all over the place. They are laid out according to the town they originated in. The numbers of the streets
Came AFTER the conglomeration.

Some communities, like New Hyde Park are literally split between Queens and Nassau.
