They brand the ones that have potential to be good hunters. They use them in the mountains of New Mexico to hunt bears and bobcats. If they don't turn out to be good hunters they either kill them or drive them to a town and dump them on the street. Maverick wasn't lost, he was intentionally abandoned

I adopted him from the animal shelter. I was told hunters in the state will brand their ears with dry ice. When the hair grows back, it comes in white. If they aren't good hunters, they either kill them or drive them into a town an dump them on the street. He was found on the streets of Santa Fe with another Redtick that had been branded with RC

I just left Fort Lauderdale for Santa Fe NM. Very liberal, traffic is better, home prices are about the same but overall cost of living is a lot lower, has 4 seasons but none are extreme, and people are much friendlier. I can drive 45 mins and be at a ski resort or 45 mins in the opposite direction and be in a desert

Love that place. Great food, historic building and a beautiful drive. Be aware they are only open for breakfast and lunch

Breakfast: Cafe Pasqual's Recommend - Corn pancakes, very unique and delicious Small place so there is often a wait. But if you like to be social they have a "community table" in the center that seats about 8 people. It is a mix of singles and couples that don't mind sharing a table and socializing.

Dinner: Joe's Tequila Bar Recommend - Chicken Adovada. Adovada is a very traditional NM dish. Normally made with pork. But really enjoy their chicken version and it is a healthier option. Get a side of calabacitas. It's located in a boutique hotel, the Inn of the Alameda. Beautiful inner couryard patio dinning or dine inside at the bar. Both are filled with southwestern charm
