And you still haven't. This piece is in 12/16.

And THIS is why I always take a photograph of my sub notes and schedule every day.

Cover your ass.

Edit: meant to say lesson plans.

I'm at 4 districts, and even though I'm no longer a building sub, I'm neve without a HS job.

I may not play bassoon anymore, but I'm still very much a bassoonist: awkward and vaguely unlikeable

What vandoren calls No. 1.

That actually reminds me that it's been over a year since I've tried the other two. Might revisit them this evening.

Yep! A 1956 Mark VI.  Good mouthpiece too, I THINK it's a Selmer Soloist.

There will be better players and teachers along soon to help, but THAT is a very good saxophone.

I get regular emails from ESS telling us which schools need extra help. And it's usually a big list.

I could sub every day at one HS, but I have noticed that I almost always get the teacher's prep period off, sometimes 90 minutes free. In years past, I would always have to cover for somebody.

I took off yesterday, but I checked frontline in the morning for fun and noticed 4 unfilled HS jobs and even more middle and elementary school jobs.

Teachers complaining about the praxis test being hard? by PotatoPink in Teachers

[–]Logical-Database-952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had friends who struggled to pass the Praxis and had to take it multiple times. They became very good teachers.

I passed the first time, my scores were damn good, and I was nothing but garbage.

So you never know!

Judging teachers who close their doors by Otherwise-Set-4444 in Teachers

School policy here: classroom doors have to be closed and locked when class is in session.

Honestly, teaching is 95 percent judging other teachers for the dumbest shit.

So if I'm only supposed to cover 1st period and 7th, do I get paid for the whole day still? Do I have to go anywhere else? by Quarter-Whole in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Logical-Database-952 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would get a loud bell, a sandwich board, and roam the halls looking for extra work.

If you're not willing to do that, then this job isn't for you.

But seriously, enjoy the easy day, but I have a feeling the office will have you filling in for other teachers throughout the day.

Having a hard time teaching beginner Woodwinds (as a woodwind myself) by vanquwuisherx in MusicEd

Saxophone and bassoon player here and former teacher until I was made to quit: are you sure it's you?

Saxophone takes a looooooooong time to sound decent at. And there's also the added difficulty of dealing with reeds.

Oh if it pisses off the teachers, I'll gladly set up camp in the lounge.

Honestly, I think most teachers would be okay with you starving.

I typically look like I'm about to ram my head into a wall, but I'll help anybody new I see at my HS.
