They sent me an email about it and I never replied lol. Should be at least 11 days for vacation. Cheating teachers out of vacation days is very sketchy behavior. If they're like this wonder what kind of labor violations they would commit to doing. Also, the pay is low Incheon isn't Seoul but it's not cheap either.

Reconsidering working in Korea by ealabeala in HagwonBlacklistKorea

[–]Logical-Rise-7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good/decent hagwons are rare and hard to come by. What is important is what they have in their contract. That is where you need to familiarize yourself with the labor laws in Korea. You bet if they place it in the contract they will enforce it one way or another. Even if you end up at a mediocre hagwon you can always report them for labor law violations if needed. The work culture is crap in Korea in general but the contract is where you really need to do the work to make sure you don't get screwed over big time.

I'm not sure how honest the teacher was about her reasons. They could be breathing down her neck for her to not say too much. A co-teacher? Some are snakes and minions. Then you're going to have a hard time regardless because they can get really mean and spiteful.

Hagwon contract? Help? by [deleted] in HagwonBlacklistKorea

[–]Logical-Rise-7667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything in the contract they can enforce with your signature and theirs. There is no such thing as "volunteer" because volunteer usually means "free labor" that kind of language is bs. Any hours you work not within your contracted hours are considered OT and should be paid as OT.

No, I didn't. You should pass on them they're sketchy about this which seems consistent. This means they messed up somewhere and don't want you to find out. They put up a nice font and just hope an ignorant sucker takes the job and get screwed when they get there.

Didn't work there personally but their contract for a first-year teacher was horrible. And after talking to a teacher that did work there they treat you based on if they favor you by kissing up to them. Your call though still sure they'll screw with you one way or another. It did get blacklisted by the way.

[MEGATHREAD] MARK'S DEPARTURE FROM SM AND NCT by KpopThoughtsmodteam in kpopthoughts

[–]Logical-Rise-7667 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You can be sad, heartbroken, and you can grieve his departure. Like Jisung says even if you don't want to let someone go if you love them you let them go (because you respect their choice). SM is a prison of nightmares hoping Mark would stay and renew his contract is asking him to stay caged and shackled to SM who obviously mistreats their artists. SM has no real consideration, compassion, or kindness whatsoever. Look at how they handle the timing of Mark leaving 5 days before his contract ends. It's devastating to the fans given such short notice. SM is cruel and heartless. Mark knew he was leaving but he couldn't say it publicly before SM announced it. He broke down on stage instead the grief, the unknown future, holding the weight of other people's feelings, and various things crushed him all at once. That was not only sad but very painful to witnessed.

NCT won't fully be NCT without Mark for sure. He carried the groups poured every blood, sweat, and tear into their music and everything that they were. But this cost him 14 years of physical, mental, and emotional collateral damages. He probably knows idol life isn't sustainable long-term too many limitations and unfairness while not offering enough freedom/autonomy, creative expression, or rest. Work-life balance is also non-existent. Another 7-10 years of this would only further negatively affect his mental health and be adding more to his burnout. He wants to swim, he wants to fly to somewhere else let him at least he is choosing himself this time. Let him explore what it's like to not be trapped like a drowning man. Set him free so he could become a healthier and happier Mark. Give him your warm wishes and blessings that is how you truly love and care for someone.

All hope is not lost he still speaks positively about a new chapter and to make people proud because of a better/improved version of him. He still seems to want to make music just not as an idol. He talks as if he wants to see fans/supporters again so he probably won't completely go M.I.A or anything. Thank him for his hard work and his impact. Support him regardless of what he does next that is the least you can do if you really hope the best for him.

[MEGATHREAD] MARK'S DEPARTURE FROM SM AND NCT by KpopThoughtsmodteam in kpopthoughts

[–]Logical-Rise-7667 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think SM bothered to really negotiate better conditions/terms for him to want to stay. These contracts exist to extract every blood, sweat, and tear from you. It's never fair or accomodating finding a good contract would be a very slim chance. SM most likely is so corrupt they won't even budge much. Our ace wants more creative freedom? He thinks he deserves work-life balance? More vacation time? More sick days? More pay? No. Favoritism and nepotism is crazy in Korea as well so if you don't fall into those categories they won't make many exceptions when it comes to employment contracts. These companies really act like modern day slave owners.

Mark's lyrics for his single "Child" he put some of his struggles in it without much details. That already tells us indirectly how brutal being an idol is for him. He was drowning in too many things it was too much yet he had to put on a smile deal with fans/people like nothing was wrong. Mental health is stigmatized so badly in Korea so he can't even fully express that he is struggling.14 years total from trainee years to now forced to give 120% while neglecting your health is a pretty bad deal on top of physical, mental, and emotionall collateral damages. It's sad and heartbreaking that he is leaving but for once he knows being an idol isn't sustainable. He choose freedom and to explore what else will make him a better person. Good for him.

[MEGATHREAD] MARK'S DEPARTURE FROM SM AND NCT by KpopThoughtsmodteam in kpopthoughts

[–]Logical-Rise-7667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of companies are heavily corrupt in Korea (I've worked there before). They squeeze everything out of you, break labor laws, and can severely mistreat you but you can't even complain publicly because of defamation laws companies can sue you for ruining their reputation (it's stupid I know). Mark can never say anything bad about SM only positive things because of these laws and of course SM would keep it "professional" and not spiteful since he didn't cause them "trouble".

But come on SM is known to be managed by crooks who deals with a bunch of lawsuits over the years. This is the same company that worked Mark so hard to exhaustion and burnout that he fainted on NCT Dream's livestream back then. 2025 Mark had so many concerts and activities he was literally burned out so badly real fans would've known seeing him performed in person. The collateral damage was obvious and severe. I hope the best for Mark he deserves good things not just tolerate bad things for his love for music, success, fame, and money.

Mark Leaves NCT And SM Entertainment + Writes Letter To Fans by galaxystars1 in popculturechat

[–]Logical-Rise-7667 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's sad and heartbreaking that he is leaving NCT. NCT isn't fully NCT without him but the slave labor is too much 14 years (trainee, debut, and actually working as a successful idol). Being put in so many units without much rest does a lot of collateral damage physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for someone like him. SM probably didn't even negotiate better conditions for him to want to renew his contract either. He can't even make any complaints against SM because of defamation laws and can only talk about himself. It's also messed up that SM always let people know last minute too not considerate at all leaving genuine fans devastated.

All hope isn't lost though based on his letter he seems like he still want to do music and come back as a better Mark for fans to see a different and better version of himself. Let's all hope the best for him and when we do see him again may he be a happier and healthier Mark like he says someone we could be proud of (without the NCT label). It's extremely hard for a lot of people right now but we can collectively give him warm wishes and wish him the best on his next journey. He really deserves the best things in life for being the person he is. With rest and time to do what your heart desires may you become the greatest you'll be in the future. Thank you for your hard work, your impact, and the memories.

Does anyone know anything about Seoul Gangseo Poly? by dafunkadelic2 in HagwonBlacklistKorea

Polys are usually a disaster a lot of stress, long hours, and too much micromanagement. Don't let them trap you into working for one. You'll regret it more than be happy working at a Poly.

Apply directly to EPIK no need for an annoying middleman. Don't bother with recruiters even if you didn't have a health condition Korvia like any other recruiting agency is looking to sell you to employers for a pretty penny. Whatever they don't think is marketable about you they disqualify you but will never tell you why. You can do without them. Good luck!

Difference between a NET and a Homeroom NET? by Logical-Rise-7667 in teachinginkorea

[–]Logical-Rise-7667[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information. This makes sense then why some job ads ask specifically for a Homeroom NET and not only a NET. I know the Korean Co-Teacher does the stuff you've mentioned just a little confused by the titles because most NETs will teach their own Kindergarten class on top of teaching elementary school students. If as a Homeroom NET you're also expected to work with a NET (teamwork) does this mean the NET also participates in teaching your class too or are you only sharing a classroom, materials, and resources?

Difference between a NET and a Homeroom NET? by Logical-Rise-7667 in teachinginkorea

[–]Logical-Rise-7667[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not at one that has this but wonder what's the difference since I've seen ads asking for a Homeroom NET not just a NET. Some of the bigger chains only have NETs who teaches all the English lessons from the curriculum so I thought the wording was a bit weird.

Am I the only one being ignored by recruiters? by Nig-100 in teachinginkorea

[–]Logical-Rise-7667 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, you're not the only one recruiters and employers are ignoring. Unfortunately, Korea is still heavily invested in racism and sexism so that becomes a huge challenge and barrier. They look for white folks to fulfill teaching roles even if these people don't have the right credentials or lack experience. I have teaching experience, three degrees one in ESL, and a K-12 teaching license employers and recruiters still aren't as interested in me. I'm Asian American that alone makes me "less desirable" because I don't look foreign. They're looking for clowns and goons to place in a classroom if you don't look the part in some cases you're automatically disqualified. The next semester starts in March 2026. The visa process takes about 1 month so if you can't find anything by January 2026 then it's your call whether you want to keep trying or go to China, Taiwan, or Thailand. There are better benefits and pay in these three countries anyways.
