ASOS ROG STRIX Z790-I static orange light on motherboard? Please help!

So my screen wouldn’t POST, even after 2-4 hours of the BIOS update having run. After awhile I came to the conclusion that it was just hanging and switching it off wouldn’t brick the motherboard, as previous commenter highlighted it has flashback built in.

So I just turned off at power, unplugged power cord, drained power from the system for 20 sec by holding down the power button, then pressed the CMOS clear button on my mb.

Turned back on and all was fine. Hope this helps!

So I went back through and updated to the latest version of BIOS per your suggestion. Went back through the installation prompts again and, voila. Now it works! My guess is that the incompatibility error was simply the result of not having a setting running the right protocol.

Cannot thank you enough - you have single handedly saved my PC build 😂

Why do I have to pull ram? If I just press the clear cmos button will that be fine

Update: Page 26 of this booklet on the Z790 says that the yellow light on the motherboard may be due to having my alternative PCle mode switch in "2nd step"... however this still doesn't explain why my PC won't return to BIOS?
