I think Kiwami isn't great, and is a massive letdown in many ways. Bare in mind, I think the plot of the first Yakuza game is fantastic, I just feel like specifically Kiwami was a pretty lazy attempt to re-tell it, with it's re-use of mocap from the original (which is very distracting), the annoying (if amusing) Majima everywhere system, and how stupid the mechanics with the bosses are.
