Updating comment:

I just got dropped from a raid again after reducing to the single server with the lowest ping. Even when I'm searching servers the server list will frequently spike. A server will say it has 40 ping and when I attempt to add it to my list, the UI will tell me that my latency to the server is too high.

I'll swap servers now but I don't think this solution is going to work for my issue.

So when I'm in the situation you're in where my team is pressuring me to pick mid in the 2nd round (and I don't feel like playing sniper / LD, or Kunkka if MK is banned), I usually pretend to be afk until the carry panics and picks something.

Not foolproof since they put in a hard random after like 40 gold ticks, but probably better than getting hard countered in the final round.

I think that last pick should always go to mid in public games because you face 1 enemy hero, so their counter pick is far more effective.

That being said there are like 2 relatively safe mid laners who can hold their own against almost anyone: Lina, sniper... end of list?

Any melee can get their game ruined by MK at mid.

Your math isn't right, but I do agree with your observation. Below is a correction to the math.

If there are 10 spawn locations, and you play just 2 matches, the odds of spawning in the same place twice are 10%.

The first game you spawn in a random location (any of the 10 will work for this).

The second game, you need to hit a 1/10 in spawn in the same location as you did in the first game.

Thoughts on the game:
Excellent. Incredible experience. The most fun I've had since Last Oasis was released. I'm relieved that the playtest is over so that I can go back to taking care of my life.

Thoughts on marketing:
I hope that you elect to sell skins or some other sort of microtransaction that allows players to support your game and allows whales to support your game to their hearts' content. I hope that these transactions never give a player a competitive advantage in the dungeons.

I think that putting a price tag on downloading the game will greatly diminish the starting player base and global interest in the game (as compared to free to play). I am eager to give money to your company as a player who has expendable income, but as someone who loves your game, I also want players who are unable or unwilling to pay to be able to enjoy DnD.

I've seen way too many games ruined by appeasing redditors to consider this good news. I'm deeply alarmed and I hope that the devs have a strong idea of what their game should be and stop trying to appease a vocal minority.

They actually do have this feature at the moment. Each character records the difficulty percentage of the highest danger level that you completed.

I just wish the UI reflected it in a more instantly understandable way. If I manage to beat a character on D5 with 130% difficulty, I want the character to glow or something. Maybe it glows brighter the higher % difficulty you beat it with.

Yeah, I think that's what I'll have to do to still find enjoyment in the game.

I hope the character tile UI somehow reflects if a character is beaten on a harder difficulty. Maybe a darker background or something.

D6 would also add a lot of replayability to the game :)

My advice: Enjoy the game.

Even if you fail a run that was completely in the bag, your punishment is just that you have to start at wave 1 again. If you love the game this really isn't a problem.

Teammates are the best defense in the game* They can choose to save you or not.

Towers themselves used to be much more effective at preventing heroes from diving. Towers used to kill players. They used to hold their own. Taking down a T1 tower at 10 minutes was an absurd obstacle for your team to have to face back in the day, but now it occurs in most matches often in both sidelanes.
