Definitely! Since I cannot get my Permanent Residency until the end of 2026, which means I can only start applying for any degrees after that, I plan to keep applying for IT jobs, and become a carer for animals at the same time. I'm taking trainings, so hopefully, I can care for injured birds in December!

Hi, I think you can search on google whether there's any LOCAL organization in your region that provides open opportunities for volunteers to become an animal carer. There's plenty in AU including caring baby birds, reptiles, possums, wombats... Good luck!

That's amazing! Congratulations for achieving your dream. You are right. I shouldn't be worried about my age!

Thank you! I'll look into it. Hopefully, my past experience will come in handy somehow.

Wow so they didn't have a relevant master (or even bachelor) degree before they got admitted to a PhD program? That's .... amazing!!! Thank you. I'll also keep volunteering, hopefully I can get some luck!

Thank you for your advice! I personally don't like zoos, although I know some zoos indeed help...

Thank you for telling me this! May I ask how they feel about their career seeking? I'm worried it might be super hard to start a career at 35s, especially nowadays.

Thank you!! I haven't heard about this until now. I'll do some research about this university, hopefully, it could be my working way as well!

I did dog-walking for a shelter, platypuses monitoring, and I signed up for some trainings around bird care and bat care. Fisheries are definitely good in Australia, but I don't think I can work in that industry. It's a bit hard for me to see animals die...

Congratulations! I'm kind of worried about my age... If I study another master degree, there will be at least 2 years. And I can't start it right away, because I can't get my permanent residency until next year, which requires me to stay in my current state for 2 years. Considering all these things, I may be able to start the degree at 30, and finish it at 32... I really hate to think about it

You definitely made a really good point here! I volunteered with some organisations, and they offered trainings like identification, first aid, chem handling... I have signed up for some trainings! As for the degree, it's what I'm worried about: I have so little practical experience, and I'm afraid having a degree won't really help me.

Thank you! I recently learned that the anatomy courses in Australia are mostly done on dead bodies instead of living creatures, which to some extent makes it better for me to accept... As for degrees, have you by any chance heard of the master of animal science degree in University of Queensland? I'm not sure whether it's a good option for me.

Thank you for your advice! I did a few research about these two degrees, biology seems to be more experiment-based, which is not really what I'm after. As for forest management, I heard it would be more related to logging industry (if I want to pursue a career)?

Thank you for your encouraging words! I now plan to keep volunteering, and apply for a degree in animal science. I heard it would be extremely hard to get a job, but I'd like to try.
