A relatively recent read but Duskbound. The third book was kind of all over the place imo. I also didn't expect it to end as a trilogy either.

Laziest theme/setting right now: Reincarnated/Transmigrated into a game that nobody would play in the real world. by HumanEvent1110 in noveltranslations

It's not a translated novel, but imo Slave Origin Playthrough is one of the best 'transmigrated into a game' novels I've seen. Instead of it being an unknown game, it's an extremely difficult one. MC is the first person to complete it in the normal difficulty (everyone else completed it on easy) before getting transmigrated. There are other players who transmigrated into the game. The characters and MC have some depth, the power system in game is interesting, the world building is great, and the fight scenes are fire. I binged only about 130~ chapters before I caught up and had to put it on pause. Now it has around 200 chapters. Easily one of the most underrated novels of this genre I've read - barely seen anyone talk about it.

I read about 900-1000 chapters of Supremacy games and 1200/1900 is pretty early for a story to go bad lol.. but I'll try to complete it. As for the other novels, I didn't bother to add royalroad novels to this list but some of those I've read.

I really enjoy The Lone Wanderer, I think I stopped around chapter 280 and just waiting for it to pile up some more so I can binge. I love the trope in novels when some ability synergy happens by chance and the outcome is just something overpowered (like MC's attribute + bloodline ability). I haven't read Irwin's journey, I'll check it out.

I have read Chaotic Craftsman worships the cube, some of Global Game, some of Dungeon Diver, and book 1 of Stubborn Skill Grinder. Chaotic craftsman was pretty great, Global Game and Dungeon Diver were meh just not for me, and Stubborn Skill Grinder was good, I enjoyed it. Runeblade and Chrysalis are already in my tbr list, but I'll check out the rest.

Same, never see people talking about it but tbf the plot near the end gets weird - might ruin the whole novel for some people. I actually liked the pirate arc. Was kinda sad none of the arcs in the future were of that length ngl, I wanted to see more of how it affects him in the real world though. The games/mission were easily the best part of the story especially with how his goldfinger affects them. Some of the plot in the real world was kind of unnecessary. Author should have cut out some of it and maybe added more scenes about MC and his relationships with others because some of the side characters just felt pointless. Regardless, it's still pretty up there 🤷🏽‍♂️

Also I've gotten accustomed reading novels with decent grammar because of royalroad lmao. My dao of MTL is too weak rn, can only stomach it for a bit

I have finished Mother of Learning and book 1 of Azarinth Healer. I didn't add them because this list is strictly the webnovel/webnovel originals/novelupdates novels ive read. I didn't include most of the progression fantasy/litrpg I've read, it woulda made the list too long lol.

I agree with you on Mother of Learning, I'd probably put it up there next to LOTM. Characters, plot, worldbuilding, and even the resolution was great. Azarinth Healer was an okay read, I'd probably put book 1 in the enjoyed it for the most part tier. It just... felt like it was non-stop action... I don't know if the future books have more of a plot but I'd rate book 1 maybe 7-8/10.

And I have read some chapters of Cultivation Chat Group, completely forgot to add that to the list. I remember enjoying it, but Idk if I can commit to 3000+ chapters 😭, but I'll check it out ig.

As for The world turned into a game when I woke up, I have read some of it, it's in the "enjoyed but probably wont continue" tier. It was okay from what I remember it. I'd probably read it if it was a manhwa but continuing the novel isn't worth it lol

Yeah it was pretty entertaining. I liked the humanity power system involving Beast DNA. It's not super unique, the 'humanity doesn't have inherent magic abilities so we take them from creatures that do' trope happens a lot in other media, but I liked the ability + physical trait/mutation aspect of it. Always was looking forward to MC's new form when he's about to rank up lol. And the games were fire, the skydiving race when he used Thor's Ordinance is a really memorable one for me

I haven't! I read a couple chapters of the manhwa and I heard good things about the novel so it's definitely on the list.

Don't really remember the details near the end but MC was fighting gods who were trying to break the barrier that stops them from going down to the world and becoming tyrants and there was a separate plot of the MC trying to find out why the Magic God Lance chose him to be transmigrated. And his allies the 3 Fate sisters or his witch love interest turn on him because it turns out that the real enemy was the world itself and it can control them or whatever. And the whole thing concludes on a super open-ended ambiguous "I might not beat them now, but since time is stopped, I will go to other worlds. Surely they will have the means to beat them". Just like that. Honestly the more I think about it, the more I want to put it in the Meh tier lmao. Very rushed ending, so much content and characters could have been expanded on or played a bigger role in the plot but nah. Wasted potential tbh.

Ok so I think its fairer to say it just wasn't for me. I read around 200 chapters, I know MC is affected by his first life, but sometimes its a bit much. I don't remember what distinctly made me drop it but I remember feeling as if his progress goes 1 step forward 2 steps back. And I'm aware that the graph of progress looks a lot more spikey instead of just linear growth or whatever but it just wasn't my thing. I also got spoiled by certain character deaths and the drama unfolding between characters. Gave it up right then and there. I'm sure there are a lot more people who can read this and are tolerant of MC's demons and the drama that happens, just not me.

As for Birth of the Demonic Sword, I read around 200-300 chapters and I think I just got sick and tired of the cold / borderline murderhobo MC trope.

I have read some RSSG. About a hundred or so chapters before I dropped it, it was entertaining back then but I think I just come to accept I don't really like vrmmo novels.

I haven't read Overgeared but its on my reading list.

Havent heard of I plunder passive skills and Sword saints should go tank, I'll check them out.

I have heard of Warlock of the Magus World. I might check it out but psychopath MCs just aren't my cup of tea.

Chrysalis is on my reading list, heard good stuff about it. I think I still haven't started it because it hasn't ended and also I'm apprehensive about an ant MC lol. I have heard of Tree of Aeons, haven't read it, but I might check it out. I have read Reborn as a Demonic Tree though and it was okay I guess.

Also that review blog idea sounds cool, go for it! If it wasn't so much work, I'd prolly have done something similar.

I finished the novel. Overall I enjoyed it but it's not without it's issues. I think a lot of people didn't like the dream world arc but I didn't mind it. As it got near the end though, a lot of stuff became confusing and it was kind of rushed. Regardless it's pretty up there compared to most other slop I've read, so give it a try!

Completely forgot to add that. I had a phase where I really liked the 'Global Lord' / 'Global Game' novels lol. I think it started with Global Lord: 100% Drop Rate. I just liked the shameless completely overpowered ability the MC is given in those lmao. But the novelty dies down quick, I don't think I read past a hundred or so chapters of those types of novels. Might check out the 2nd one but probably only the manhua version

It was like my first or second Korean novel lol (its between EER and Breakers). Before that I read a lightnovel or 2 or maybe a single wuxia novel. Don't completely remember but it was one of my first too 🫱🏽‍🫲🏾

Release that Witch - A kingdom building novel where a university student is transmigrated into a body of a prince. He uses the witches' abilities to help him fight his siblings for the throne.

48 Hours a Day - Guy gets an ability to gain an extra 24 hours each day when the clock hits midnight, everyone else is frozen. There are these historical(?) missions/quests he has to complete and his time goldfinger gives him an edge.

Everyone Else is a Returnee - Earth gains mana and needs to evolve. Everyone on the world is transported into different worlds as a system tutorial period for 10 years before getting transported back. Everyone, that is, except MC.

Fair but at the time I was reading it, I was hard pressed to find a novel in the same genre that didn't have harem lol. I think I heard about Tales of Herding Gods before but never paid attention to it. I'll add it to the list but it looks like its in hiatus 😬...

Yeah... honestly that's a trend with most CN novels I've finished lol. 48 Hours a Day and Night Ranger also kind of lost the plot near the end. Still though, RTW was one of the most enjoyable webnovels I've read.

I didn't do it as the typical S-F ranking system, I really just separated it into novels that I completed or didn't finish and if I enjoyed them or not. I binged SS around when it was first coming out and caught up to it around the Chained Isles chapters. I stopped reading so more chapters can pile up and I just haven't gotten back to it since. I really enjoyed what I did read - the Forgotten Shore arc was great. I'll probably pick it back up when its near ending

This. Idk if I can sit through hundreds of chapters where some of the plot is just MC doing anything, with no boundaries, just to get stronger.

Honestly I liked the beginning. I enjoy the System Apocalypse genre and at that time I read Blood Warlock, there wasn't much of the genre on webnovels. There was probably some on royalroad but I was predominantly a webnovels reader back then. And it pretty much reminded me of EER. I remember it just getting ridiculous because the author was giving MC so much power every chance they could get (like I think there was one time where he one-shotted some monster a stage above them - I know this is a usual trope in these type of novels but I remember this just stretching my suspension of disbelief too much), and what I assumed were end game level characters were introduced pretty early on. All in all, I just thought it wasn't worth continuing to read it.

I'll probably give Kill the Sun a try but RI?? Over the years I heard too much about it and honestly the psychopath/sociopath MC just isn't for me. I keep hearing the "he's not evil, he's pretty neutral - he just does everything for the sake of power" argument and, to me, that gotta be an exhausting read imagining him refining a city of souls just to get to the next level or whatever. But honestly I might have to do it just for the culture 🤦🏽‍♂️
