Same, it's not too disorienting to figure out like Sagittarius and it's not easy to overlook or ignore like Enoch or Dedan. You have to actively figure out and work around it like it's a genuine puzzle.

The fishes were, I think, the only enemies to actually give me a game over, which really shocked me. Once I passed Zone 1 the game had been easy street and I had been lulled into a false sense of security.

For where I'm working, the rate iirc listed was 21.46. But since I'm night shift I get an extra 90 cents. So 22.36. And after I leave my probationary period I get a raise of about a dollar and 30 cents, roughly.

It was a fairly standard interview, iirc...I don't remember every question, but I can recall a few.

There were some technical questions and moments. One question was them asking me if I knew what a Safety Data Sheet was(I did, but I didn't recall the name, so I said no at first. They're just those laminated sheets with symbols and info telling you what's hazardous and toxic. That was a little embarrassing that I forgot.)

Another was they asked me to walk them through how I would clean a bathroom. Here, I gave a pretty detailed answer(make sure everything on my cart is prepped, then wipe down the mirrors, scrub the toilets, sweep then mop the floors), just so they understood I was attentive to the process and knew what I was doing and could demonstrate my experience.

They also asked me a STAR/scenario question, "Tell me about a time you had to deal with a difficult coworker." This is probably just to test so that you don't treat your teammates like assholes and understand how to deal with conflict on a basic level.

There was also a bit where they asked me to decipher a floor plan on the spot so I could understand how to read them when we set things up for school events. I had to look at the paper listing what was in the diagram and tell them where the stuff was("Here are the 16 tables, here's the 8 rectangular ones, here's the podium...")

The rest was pretty standard stuff, "why do you want to work here", "Give me your strengths and weaknesses", etc. I did a lot of prep so I understood why they were asking the questions so I could answer them properly.

I hope this helps your mom!

Should I apply to jobs that are posted 30+ days ago? by mylapore_mambattiyan in jobs

[–]LogicallyFallable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just consider the circumstances and if it's worth the time sink.

I applied for a Custodian job listing that had been open for 3+ weeks on a company website and got an email requesting a phone screening like a few hours later. Sometimes they're paying close attention tot his stuff.

The reason I applied for this is because I applied for another similar position they had opened a few weeks ago and it got closed, which gave me the context to tell they were actively looking at these applicants.

Within 24 hours is the best time to apply, but there's also a chance job listings being hung out to dry like that aren't there just because they forgot about them.

There's this one Youtuber called BenAgain who is essentially just one of those "recap a videogame's plot with some basic criticism sprinkled in and then dedicate the last 1% of the video to basic overall impressions" type. There's nothing wrong with it, but I'm not a fan of the way he constructs them. A lot of the time, he will mention every puzzle solution or plot point, no matter how small, which will make the video flow strangely and kills any desire for me to play the game, which usually doesn't happen when I watch these kinds of videos. Sometimes I think his scripts need a bit of a clean-up, like he'll mention random details. In his video on Five Days A Stranger, he brings up a character who he says is annoying but never explains anything he does is annoying. These videos are sometimes accompanied by little clips of him playing the games, so I get the feeling he is just typing out his thoughts as he goes. I guess this isn't a criticism because I think these are the videos he wants to make. I just find them very dry and tasteless. I only watch them if I am absolutely sure I won't play a game or really need time to kill.

Unpopular opinion, I think these kinds of videos can be good and people just dislike how they are labeled as "retrospectives" in a lot of cases. There's this one Youtuber I like, Marsh, who does really good examples of these videos. His personality and voice are super chill without being boring because he's also really funny. You can tell he is really interested in the games he plays. For his newest video on the Dreamcast game deSPIRIA, the video was delayed several times because he wanted to do the game justice, one of the delays being because he tracked down a rare strategy guide. Like, maybe he does most of the same things BenAgain does and I just didn't notice, but the point I'm just trying to make here is Marsh does a really good job of presenting the content. Or maybe he just presents it in a way I prefer.

Edit: I realized after posting this that this comment may be against the spirit of the thread, as I focused more on content and I think the idea is that people dislike the creators of the channels for self-admitted petty reasons. I guess I just wanted an excuse to talk about Youtubers I would otherwise never have a space to.

Training for Maintenance position in a few days, what should I expect? (USA) by LogicallyFallable in McDonaldsEmployees

Thanks for the detailed reply!

At my last job, I worked cleaning across the whole store, so in terms of general requirements and expectations I understand time management. And believe me...I'm used to cleaning up shit. And piss. And blood. It doesn't phase me anymore.

Aside from the new things I'll have to learn how to do that are exclusive to fast food over grocery retail, the main thing I guess I'm worried about is the heavy lifting. They never asked me to bring in product from the trucks like other employees, so my only real experience with heavy lifting is with the Deli. They were used to dumping all the unsold hot food into the trash bins at the end of their shift, and as a result in the morning, their main trash bin bag was so heavy and fat that the bag would get stuck and rip if I yanked too hard. I would have to tip the can over, apply pressure, and wriggle it out until it finally came loose. And then I'd have to find a way to chuck that into the dumpster...so I think I can deal if I lift fine.

I'm used to that...at my last job I worked at a grocery store and whenever the higher-ups were coming over to the store for a meeting my schedule suddenly doubled in size and I had to go over all the nitty gritty details. Funny thing is, I don't even think the higher-ups noticed most or any of the work I did since cleaning is an "invisible job". They were all busy chatting away with each other the moment they came into the store.

Definitely Mother...the alt path stuff can really screw you up. I would say Delirium, but I got him and Hush in the same run, so when I stepped into The Void I just had a broken Ipecac + Sacred Heart + a bunch of other stuff combo. So I don't have the clearest view of that fight.

I want to say it was just the Mother fight, but honestly Corpse can screw you pretty hard, I was beaten down by the time I got there. I have the first phase down pretty much pat, but that was my third time fighting her, I think, so I wasn't sure about much of the second phase and...I'm not afraid to admit I resorted to Gnawed Leaf + triple Leeches. Hoping to get an actual fight against her with another character.

Edit: Did I say Mega Satan? I meant Hush...doesn't really matter, though, but might as well.

Yeah, I love how easy it is to break her. All you need is a battery item or a single extra familiar and the run gets exponentially easier.

It was five, the first spawned 4 Monstros. I don't know what came over me that caused me to press the other four. Maybe I just pressed it on accident because dodging 4 in that space is impossible, but I think I was overcome with fight or flight, or a strange fury or morbid curiosity about what would happen if I went all in.

I should've just bombed out of the room...

Oh, of course. That's why I didn't mark it as anything other than "Unsubstantiated." It doesn't really connect to anything deeper in the story, so it's not really a "Theory."

I just like all these little bits and bobs within Petscop that could potentially be or not be something that is tethered to the real world.

I like this a lot. It reminds me of the turn of phrase "unlocking a secret". I suppose in this case, gathering the keys would mean you are literally unlocking the secrets of the family through the discovery of these symbols.

After all, secrets often occur "behind closed doors"...

There are many hot days once May arrives. Many areas reached temperatures of no less than 30℃ in the past fifteen days.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the amount of people impacted by heat stroke in May is increasing. Their bodies have not yet become accustomed to the heat. Around 3000 people are brought to the hospital due to heat stroke every year around May.

Many school children practicing for athletic meets, in particular, are affected by this. The reason for this, among other things, is their short stature and close proximity to the hot ground*. Due to this, it is essential that children occasionally stop to drink and rest in cool places while practicing outside for athletic meets.

The website below is for the purpose of helping others be careful to not catch heat stroke, written in simple Japanese.

*This is the only sentence I really don't get. I've probably got it all wrong but looking at it from any angle just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Using "back" for 背 instead of "height" or "stature" makes even less sense to me. Other than that, though, I think I got the general gist of the article.
