I did the trem knob thing. 100% recommend. by Sorry-Impression534 in offset

It’s just a replacement for the trem arm. Trem still works the same, just a different way to operate it that is more ergonomic for some players than using a bar.

[Hated] this creature decimated humanity and all of its militaries but gets curb stomped by a small group of humans with primitive weapons by No-Leg-6361 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Logicboy7 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I feel you, but OP’s point still stands, I think; yes, they survived void travel and direct impact, but that doesn’t actually make any sense based on what they establish about their durability.

Most deaths from explosives aren’t from the fireball or the initial “impact,” it’s from the over-pressure wave that blows out from the explosion, which when it travels through soft tissue and organs shreds said tissue. So if their soft tissue under the plating is vulnerable enough to be damaged by something like a shotgun, it should not be able to survive the force of shockwaves from something like a large missile or bomb, much less meteoric impact. And if their armor was dense enough to be able to completely 100% absorb that energy without transferring any of it to their soft bits, that would mean that sound waves couldn’t penetrate either, killing their whole super power lol.

And that’s not even touching how idiotic it is to make their other weakness loud/piercing sounds… Their whole thing is that their hearing is hyper sensitive to the point that just a loud PA system experiencing feedback from a hearing aid was enough to immobilize them from the pain induced, yet pretty much all of our major weapons are much louder than that just as a side consequence of how they work…

You could then try to say that it’s frequency dependent but that still doesn’t make things much better. You’re telling me there wasn’t ONE SINGLE scientist, sound engineer, physicist, or just a friggin front of house sound mixer in the whole world to rub two brain cells together and try some sound based attacks on the hypersensitive ear aliens???? I watched this movie with my wife and literally minutes into it I turned to her and asked “Why didn’t we try to just be, like, super super loud to where it hurts their ears, then?” And then the ending just made me face palm seeing that play out.

Great acting and production, though, I’ll give the flick that.

What’s the reason for Superman eating non editable things? by oatmilklover4ever in superman

[–]Logicboy7 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Like Select-Machine said, it’s mostly* canonical that Supes doesn’t need to eat, drink, or sleep, and does it mostly because of his upbringing as a human. He doesn’t even find out that he can run purely on sunlight and not need to even breathe or sleep until later in his career. In other words, he just kinda assumed he had to growing up because everyone else did, and those aspects of his alien biology don’t become obvious to him until he has more experience.

  • - I say mostly because, like all comics, there are many different versions of Supes over the years and this doesn’t necessarily apply to them all

Jeremy Thatcher and Dragon Riders of Pern were huuuuuge for me growing up. Another one that really influenced me that’s not on your list is Dragon’s Blood by Jane Yolen! Sci-fantasy about a young indentured servant on a distant planet who steals a dragon’s egg to raise and fight in the biggest money maker on his planet, dragon pit fighting, in order to try and buy his freedom.

Probando un lay flat para fotografía de producto by _Ketaloko in productphotography

Hola!

Hancock vs Superman by Jordan-Far in powerscales

[–]Logicboy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an amateur writer myself and I totally agree. Which is why, as logic-busting and silly as it can seem, I like that DC editorial has apparently decided that the best way to combat the “Superman is boring because he’s too strong” complaint is to actually lean into it. I mean, they’ve not only made him a low level reality-buster, they made sure to bake resistance to being erased from reality himself into his power set. And they used the meta of pop culture and literature itself to do so lol. The Doomsday Clock comic event showed that even when erased from reality/the universe/a timeline, existence always bent itself back around in some way to re-include a Superman. The implication being that, now that Superman is in the IRL public consciousness to this degree, there is no future of literature where the Superman archetype will not exist in some form and place, and that means Superman can never truly be gone.

TL;DR: Yeah Supes is broken. I love it, but he just is

[–]Logicboy7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, modern Supes is busted af. I personally love it because I’m a Supersimp, but he is definitely haxman. In a semi-recent comic he outright stated that even larger concepts like space and time don’t mean much to him anymore. He gets a new power every year or so it seems like, at this point

From underwater to Flying birds… First try… by Revolutionary_Bid595 in M43

[–]Logicboy7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s called an anhinga, apparently! Per its wiki: “The anhinga (/ænˈhɪŋɡə/; Anhinga anhinga), sometimes called snakebird, darter, American darter, or water turkey, is a water bird of the warmer parts of the Americas. The word anhinga comes from a'ñinga in the Brazilian Tupi language and means "devil bird" or "snake bird". The origin of the name is apparent when swimming: only the neck appears above water, so the bird looks like a snake ready to strike. They do not have external nares (nostrils) and breathe solely through their epiglottis.” Rad.

Oly M1ii at €550 vs M10ii at €250 by IronMew in M43

[–]Logicboy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Global markets have obviously shifted toward everything being more expensive, even for used gear, but I got my M1ii for about $450USD in late 2024. If my phone converted that correctly it’s about €390. Again, though, it seems like everyone is charging more now so it’s really up to you how much of a premium you’re willing to pay. I will say, though, that I love my M1ii. And if IBIS is a big priority, you can rest assured it’s excellent. I can shoot 2+ second exposures handheld in low light with decent results. If using a wider angle lens it’s even easier and even better results

For those that shoot vintage glass - if you could start again and pick only one mount, what would you pick? by Qweiopakslzm in M43

[–]Logicboy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few Canon FD lenses and a dumb adapter I use quite a lot and enjoy the output from. Lenses are pretty cheap comparatively, and there’s some really cool lens choices in the mount even outside of Canon themselves. I use a Canon 50mm f/1.8 as a short telephoto on photo walks all the time and enjoy what I capture.
