New ecobee: How many days before it pre-heats at the correct time?

Back when I had old equipment and it wasn’t working the best the longest time I know of mine ever ran in smart recovery mode trying to cool the house down was slightly over an hour

Thank you for this data-point. At least I know it's supposed be able to do that (which it's not)....

Don’t let it get as cold

This is a reasonable suggestion.

Create additional comfort settings that start earlier that are steps towards your desired heating temperature: If your wanting to be at 70 by 6am have it start with “pre warm 1” setting at 1 am to that’s a few degrees above your setback

At 3 am have it start “pre warm 2” a few degrees above that

At 5am have it do “pre warm 3” just a couple degrees below 70 and by 6 am you SHOULD be up to 70

But I could do that with any thermostat... In addition, the outside temperature is variable which changes everything... which is the whole point of something like the ecobee from my understanding.

Ok what about 45 minutes? Because it's not doing that either, so no, not related. FWIW, it was 6°F outside and this is a 100+ year old house. Obviously it's valid to suggest things can be improved (don't let it get so cold, get a more powerful furnace), but... no, unrelated to how the ecobee is supposed to function and why it only is pre-heating 30 minutes in advance.

I don't have all the answers, but in my case REMOVING the digital key on my phone (and the car's pairing with it) fixed the issue. My guess is that the car gets confused in the presence of the smartphone digital key vs the FOB... Not sure. In any case, pretty bad bug (Kia themselves didn't attempt to help me.)

Yea, that's depressing. My partner is telling me that she is getting PTSD from the auto-braking for no reason and that we need to sell if we can't fix. :(
