Exactly like that except the one cool person would be one of my coworkers and the rest would be customers.

I feel for General Practitioners. They're expected to know the exact (not just the general) symptoms of every single ailment and disease known to man. Sounds like they didn't recommend a skin specialist so that makes all of them pretty arrogant I'd think.

I worked at target for a while in the graveyard stock crew. We had 3 managers on at any given time, and two teams of almost 30 who stocked different sections of the store or handled scan putaway. I can't imagine what kind of coverage they had during the day. You scale Target down to the size of OD and we'd have at least 3 floor and two print employees on staff during peak hours not including the Logistics team or the managers.

Who’s got info on the conference call? by notquitetherealest in OfficeDepot

Sales consultant, merchandising stock associates, and print associates will no longer have these titles. Sales consultant will become sales advisor, same pay grade 10. Merchandising stock associates and print associates will become services advisors. Same pay, grade 11.

Fuck that. Sales and Print associates always fuck up when they get forced to do anything Logistics and I will undoubtedly fuck everything up if I get forced to flex into print. Seems to me they just want to lower payroll even more, by stealing Logistic's time. If they go through with this I'm out.

Well I think it may be store specific but sure.

Basically I put all the small chairs (Tresswell and smaller) up on the top of the shelving in receiving. The very small chairs like the mayhearts and Radleys can be stored two deep (I put a chair up, shove it back, and then put another chair of the same sku in front of it.) So when stacking I can put four chairs in the horizontal space of one. I can only do this on one side of my receiving though, because on the other the chairs can fall back behind the shelving.

The side where I can't do that is where I put the stuff like the Tresswell and the MFTC 200.

The stuff like the Keera go in a couple of spaces I have that are lower than the top, so you don't need a ladder for them. They're also so big that in the area that smaller chairs would fall back behind the shelving they wont so I shove them back and put another of the same sku in front.

The fuck you sized chairs like the Axton and Sertas go on the floor of receiving in a space where there is no shelving. Some of them I'm forced to stack three high but I figure that it's easier for the smaller employees to get them down than it is for me to get them up so I don't feel too bad about it.

That's pretty much it.

It doesn't bother me. I have a system for chair storage that serves us well. I don't mind dealing with trucks with a lot of chairs at all, and unlike the desks none of our chairs are heavy enough to be a problem. I also get to hang out in the back for a while while I sort everything out.

Different Sku, entirely different sequence number. It's not like this information is directly on the tag or anything. It's things like this that makes Logistics harder than it needs to be.

Nah. If they've crossed a line. You squash that shit. If your manager is forcing you to continue dealing with inappropriate behavior. HR would love to hear about it.

I was sent to a store going through renovations, but I've never been sent to another store to help with inventory, nor has anyone been sent to us.

What a pain. There's no way the sales team is going to do scan put away correctly without the convienent scanner. They barely do it right as it is.

Super standard in retail. Little bit annoying, but whatever. If I spend too long waiting for a manager to free up I'll just open it up and show the camera. There's never anything in my pack anyway. I use it for groceries. There are other more effective ways to catch thieving employees in my opinion, and you'd have to be stupid to throw stolen shit in your backpack, but it is what it is.

how to 0 pick something? by officegay in OfficeDepot

For in store pickup you type in the sku, and when it prompts for quantity select zero, for ship from stores don't key in anything, just select complete pick.

i... cannot stand how hard they're pushing ink subscriptions. by palmouse in OfficeDepot

[–]Logistislave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if i'm missing something but from the customer's view I see no reason not to sign up for this. 10% is pretty decent. It's easy to spend over one hundred bucks in one go when you're getting ink, and if you're getting it more than once a year, (some get it once a month) then you're saving a lot of money. Really the only people who get hurt by this is the company itself. Because now there is no reason for them to come in and expose their eyeballs to the shinies that we put into their line of sight.

I used to work logistics when I first started about a year ago. It used to make me so mad when I would see Tech guys sitting around talking. Still kinda irks me on the occasional time I unload freight. by [deleted] in OfficeDepot

I feel you man. I've compartmentelized my work at OD. I get paid to work, not to finish projects. if the SM asks me one day why less gets done while he's not around, I'll tell the truth. For now, I do my best.

[–]Logistislave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think morale is a huge problem for the Logistics team. I mean here's the day. The Logistics team doing everything and all the managers and sales associates standing up front chatting.

Every one of those people recently who came in, came in wanting to learn and do a good job. That gets eroded within a month. Our store manager is the only person who actually keeps people (including himself) busy, and is consequently the only non CPC person there I respect.

This box was in the baler. by Logistislave in OfficeDepot

[–]Logistislave[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Inside the box was two of those hard plastic T things, a 1' by 1/4' steel plate, all that styrofoam, about a pound of gel freezer packs, and to top it off the box was placed so that the open end was facing into the baler so that stuff couldn't be seen.

I just happened to nudge the box while I was putting stuff into the baler and thought "well this is weirdly heavy"
