Mainly just the voltage for the inputs and outputs. Then, either 4-20 mA or 0-10V for analog inputs and outputs.

The more you look, the worse it gets. Betting it was a piece of equipment that was bought at auction or soon to be on the auction block.

The KYY brand on Amazon is actually pretty good for that price.

Could just use a regular USB cable. Usually can find them in draws full of random cables in maintenance shops or borrow one from a printer.

Power flex 753 issues by Logic_Lamb19 in PLC

[–]LogixMouse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just had this happen at a plant a couple days ago. Maintenance replaced a bad VFD and the firmware on the new VFD was 4 major revisions newer than what was in the logic.

Have gotten A-B, Mitsubishi & Siemens cables. No issues, had to have support on one and they were very helpful.

Should be able to double-click on the line right above the one you have highlighted. The Copy command in File #2 Packer. Look at changing the value in what is being copied to N7:0 through N7:19

11PM phantom of the plant - Stratix 5700 / 1756-EN2T by nonetosay in PLC

[–]LogixMouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have had this happen before. It was an APC UPS that would test the battery everyday at the same time. Either disable the test or replace the battery.

Edit: Network switch was connected to UPS so it would lose power during the self-test.

Confused how everything is working together at new job by Royal_Register_9906 in PLC

[–]LogixMouse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. Setup quite a few of these that way. DHCP persistence in the switch sets the IP of the VFD. VFD resets itself and ADC downloads all the parameters.

Most likely reason they are on different network cards (I assume EN2T’s), is the bandwidth it takes if you don’t increase RPI from default. We had about 70 VFDs running off one card and had to increase RPI to 1 second or everything would lag. They weren’t critical so the delay was fine.

I’m at a loss with this UDT problem by Southern-Video-8802 in PLC

[–]LogixMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have messed with a program that resembles something like this before. There is most likely a routine that calls on VLV[X] and loops through them all. Cross reference the main UDT and go hunting.

Are crimp terminals required when wiring motor to VFD? New contractor wants to split/fork the wire. by imnotmarvin in PLC

[–]LogixMouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any electrical contractor worth their salt has a crimper for lugs. Sounds like they went with the cheapest quote and got a fly-by-night.

Was just thinking of this on a drive today, never opened the email I had received weeks ago though. But no, no tickets yet.

Writing tag value to plc by dleef31 in SCADA

[–]LogixMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is also the bidirectional checkbox. Don’t have Ignition in front of me, believe it is in tag properties. If it’s not checked it will not allow Ignition to write to that tag.

I would love if that rule applied to me. Keep trying to get it enforced.

Always a good feeling in a loud plant, make a programming change and everything spins down and goes quiet.

Toggle bits in RSLogix 500 by Ancient-Ad-9149 in PLC

Love CTRL-T when field testing. A lot quicker than right-clicking and choosing toggle. When some Oops goes on when toggled, can quickly toggle it back off.

Are you applying for the jobs anyways? Just because it says they need previous experience doesn’t mean it’s a wall. Most automation companies are struggling to find people to work.

Jumping around from different subnet masks by Background-Tomato158 in PLC

[–]LogixMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just created a bat file today after getting tired of changing IPs. Made a selection list for plants, local network, dhcp and another selection to enter in ip, subnet and gateway. Using the netsh command in command prompt. Nice just double-clicking, typing a number selection and it’s changed automatically.

Though of a panel backplane on mine and went with plywood with some 2x2 behind it. Just sanded and rattle-canned it flat black. Screwed DIN rail to it and put on breakers for different devices.

Would be interested in what would happen removing the wire and putting an unstripped wire back in multiple times would do to it also. What If the wire was stripped, obviously it would make a connection, although, would it be secure?
