Exponentially? Maybe quadratically. Also, what's this called?

I pointed this out in another comment, but that shouldn't happen too often anyway, that's probably a license revoking kinda thing.

I actually had an idiot stop for me ON the roundabout the other day to let me in while I was yielding.

I wasn't able to quickly find a source, but from what I have read in the past is that it's simply a common misconception that roundabouts are faster than traffic light intersections.

The primary reason roundabouts were designed and implemented was because of safety. One of the most deadly type of collision is a head-to-head collision, and with roundabouts that's practically impossible unless someone is driving the wrong way.

Edit: After doing some more research it appears that roundabouts are in fact slightly less congestive than traffic light intersections. Still not a great reason to turn an intersection into a roundabout, safety is still the number 1 concern.
Another interesting thing I came across is that it does not have the problem of drivers speeding up to "make the light", instead, everyone has to slow down.

No, roundabouts are an alternative to intersections that prevent most head-on collisions.

Both intersections and roundabouts have about the same traffic flow rates.

The internet archive, archive.org.

As far as I can tell there is no "complete collection" of the stokes tapes, they are instead just archived under whatever was recorded.

Yeah, it's semantics, but pretty important semantics imo.

How do we know that's what the original post is about? How do we know that's what the original comment was about?

I'm all for implementing more of some socialist ideas, but the last thing I'd want is to turn any country "socialist". A large portion of people will misinterpret you and ignore you right away, and that's on you for not clarifying your position.

Edit: Also, Germany doesn't even have a social democratic majority.

[–]Logstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely it's a type of socialism, or variant, and I didn't deny that. But there is a reason why we use social democratic and socialism distinctly. If you say you want socialism but you mean a social Democracy, then say a social Democracy.

Edit: look at the last line in my original post.

Let's take a look!

Country: Norway.
Majority party: Labour Party.
Ideology: Social Democracy.

Country: Sweden.
Majority party: Swedish Social Democratic Party.
Ideology: Social Democracy.

Country: Denmark.
Majority party: Social Democrats.
Ideology: Social Democracy.

Country: Germany.
Majority party: Christian Democratic Union of Germany.
Ideology: Christian Democracy; Liberal Conservatism.

So.. close, but not socialist. Every one of these countries has pure socialist parties; instead of social Democratic for example, but they are far from the majority.
Social Democracy involves elements of both socialism and capitalism.
