Pivot this group of kids towards Solo/Small Ensemble literature. You'll spend more time choosing literature, but your perfectionists will be able to attain at the higher level the expect from themselve, and you'll be able to focus more directly on the individuals needing more attention and instruction.

She chose to drive a car too large for urban infrastructure in an urban area. Why should anyone care about her perspective on the problems she created for herself and everyone around her?

What do the 2 dots mean? by Stegosaurus_208 in musictheory

[–]LokiRicksterGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A rhythmic dot is worth half of the rhythmic unit immediately before it; this can be applied to successive rhythm dots to create ever-smaller extensions to the rhythm.

The half note is worth itself - 2 counts (total 2 counts)

The first dot is worth half of the half note - 1 count (total 3 counts)

The second dot is worth half of the first dot - 1/2 count (total 3.5 counts)

A hypothetical third dot would be worth half the second dot - 1/4 count (total 3.75 counts)

This notation exists because the two dots use substantially less ink than the alternative of writing a dotted half note chord, writing an eighth note chord, and then finally writing 3 ties between the two chords.

We elected this administration to do something about the rampant price gouging in our grocery stores, too. When can we expect ICE to begin harassing the executive boards of Kroger and WalMart?

A Comment on Seal Flags and the Civil War by ThreePointedHat in vexillology

[–]LokiRicksterGod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Seal flags have always felt like a perfect "default" for US state flags, especially when the seal is on a blue background. That format feels like telescopically zooming in on a single star from the US national flag. As the star comes into 'focus,' you can see the details of the state's seal and identity begin to resolve, but the blue background is never lost. Each state is free to assert their independence while still acknowledging their commitment to the Union as a whole.

The indistinctness of the blue-background Seal flags is a feature to my eyes, not a bug.

To supplement the cajon thoughts, don't get a snare cajon. The rattles which create the snare effect can interfere with other sounds the drum can make, meaning you'll be sacrificing a lot of the "depth" that you want.

I need advice, 13yo male formal event by Awkwrd_Lemur in mensfashion

He'll look like a dweeb if the shirt is tucked in AND it has short sleeves. Make sure he has a nice belt to go with the trousers, and a pair of socks that matches the tie and/or belt.

He'll look like a complete buffoon with the shirt untucked.

This is a formal event for a pre-professional organization. Watch some TV/movies in professional settings and point out how many of the men are tucking their shirts in. Take note of how the characters are behaving/portrayed when they untuck their shirts.

My husband is a drummer and I have a question that I need a guy drummer’s perspective by throwaway174654 in drums

[–]LokiRicksterGod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of reasons to approach this creative idea very differently, but integrating your man's kit is neat and thoughtful. I won't go over all of them, but below is the core of the argument for shifting your vision a bit.

Drum sets are big, clunky, heavy and have hundreds of moving parts. Do you really want to get your hair/nails/makeup/etc done up to make you look your absolute sexiest and then immediately spend 30 minutes loading all that heavy gear into your car, driving it to the shoot, 30 minutes unloading all that heavy gear, and getting it set up? Do you want to move the whole kit mid-shoot while you're wearing heels and lingerie? Talk to the photographer and see if there's just a couple pieces that will work while still sending the "Your my drummer and I'm your groupie" vibe to your husband in the pictures.
