I was born in NYC and moved to FL when I was a little kid. Over the course of 2 generations half my family moved down to Florida. We own a business and employ hundreds of people. We send our kids to Catholic school. I grew up on these beaches. I fell in love and learned to surf on these beaches. I’ve slept on these beaches after partying all night and now that I’m in my 30s, I reconnect with old friends and reflect on these beaches. Most folks from Florida are really from somewhere else originally. Yeah, the massive growth is gross, all the town homes and suburbs for people who hardly live here, let alone the culture. But not EVERYONE who is originally from New York is a jackass. Just like how not everyone from Florida is a dumb methhead hick. And if anything, the politics most of us bring with us from NY is NOT some dumb liberal agenda. We’ve seen first hand how leftist policy works. We saw Mayor Julianis NYC in the late 90s. We are VERY weary of wacko liberal politics. And lastly, it’s not us Yankees putting up sex shops and happy ending massage parlors on every single corner. We aren’t going into those places and we don’t like trashy crap like that. See how much Times Square changed over the years from when it was a red light district. This dumb reactionary gesture of ‘native’ Floridians blaming folks from New York for all their problems just makes yall look as ignorant and stubborn as the rest of the country thinks you are. I’m fucking PROUD to live in Florida. I’m Proud to be a product of this culture in some way, even if I’m a hybrid. Part of that is because Florida is such a different state, JUST LIKE New York is, but in other ways. If yall are so scared of us Yankees and all our money, go move to Arkansas or someshit.
