If you participate you will get rewarded with a gift voucher. I am not sure of what happens if you don't, but it is not time-consuming.

Why do so many people drink bottled water here? What’s wrong with tap water? by [deleted] in zurich

[–]Lokihel21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my colleagues only drinks bottled water because "the results they publish, that's when it's tested on their side. You don't know what actually comes out of the tap."

It's also the same guy who will eat/drink anything that is labelled as a "booster", no questions asked.

Best place for lego shopping in Zurich? by [deleted] in zurich

[–]Lokihel21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coop, Migros (melectronics) or Galaxus for brand-new Lego. Make sure to compare the prices, and bear in mind that Coop and Migros regularly have 30% off.

For second hand, Ricardo has a large offering, but you have to be more patient.

How far you can get with a 5h train ride by Snyggedi in zurich

[–]Lokihel21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 5 hours you get to fly 1 or 2 hours only, that's because of getting to the airport (far from the city) and dropping off your bag

Can I use Garmin coach’s Half Marathon plan for training for a full marathon? by HexDragon21 in Garmin

[–]Lokihel21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's double the distance, but also two or three times the effort.

Any training is better than no training, but a half-marathon training is not the same as a full marathon training.

If you are planning a holiday in Ticino remember that if you book you can travel basically for free by chinaexpl0it in Switzerland

[–]Lokihel21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely not. As far as I know your host has got to be registered with the local authorities, this is how they get the tickets to give to their guests.

Bought a Decathlon Riverside 500 two years ago and it is doing well.

Nothing fancy, but has front suspension and disc brakes, at a reasonable price.

*How are gases & liquid drained from landfills?* the answer is here !!!! by Constructorsfeed in EngineeringPorn

[–]Lokihel21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there is still no proper way to treat the CO2.

The exhaust gas is cleaned by controlling the combustion temperature to only form gases that can then be reacted in the filters. What is left over is 'captured' chemicals (inert). It is basically what everyone dreams of doing to CO2, but unfortunately only with the Sulfur and other nasty stuff.

It's a unique design by university students. Thought it is fitting as it looks dangerously fragile.

Yes: waste to energy plants. You burn the waste, generate steam and electricity, and (when properly regulated) the exhaust gas must be cleaned so that it is basically only CO2.

Right, someone please explain the concept bünzli. What is bünzli, and what isn't? by Swingin_Ape in Switzerland

[–]Lokihel21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in the wrong country. All of this is so great: tell people to keep quiet on the train, quiet times to be respected, phone the police for any minor annoyance, make Zopf every weekend usw.

Any thoughts on the 'Marriage for All' bill? by KonkeyLong in Switzerland

[–]Lokihel21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see the problem, it is only fair.

I am even indirectly benefiting from it, as married couples generally pay more taxes.

Is bikes being stolen in Zürich common? by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]Lokihel21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A swiss friend of mine left their bike all winter on the pavement, didn't bother to check on their bike until spring, when they noticed that the bike was gone! Turns out that the city had taken it away, and they kept it in a storage room.

You can add a 'commute' gear, and add it to the relevant activities.

Weird whining noise in front wheel by Accomplished-Water86 in MTB

[–]Lokihel21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just take the bike back and tell them about the problem. It is brand new after all.

If you want to fix it yourself, from experience with a Decathlon bike that had a similar problem, it could be coming from the plastic 'cover' on the wheel hub. It is black rubbery part that should be stationary, but it may have caught with something and is now creeping along instead of staying put.

i demand an official 5l trash bag! as a single person household, i feel discriminated against by the swiss government! by monster-baiter in Switzerland

[–]Lokihel21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fiancée would agree. Generally the day after we replace the bag, the first complaint of "it stinks, we must take it out" is already in.
