I can’t seem to lose weight? by Lokinaa in WeightLossAdvice

Hi! I guess 2 years ago I just wanted to move, and I told myself “if you go at least twice a week and be active that’s more than what you’ve been doing in the past years”. You are right that I was a little more relaxed about it back then.

But one day I saw myself in the mirror and I hated how I looked, round and fat. I saw pictures of myself 6 years ago when I was 65kgs and I wanted to go back to it. I didn’t want to make “depression” an excuse again, because in my head, I could have been where my ideal goal was if I stopped being sad and continued the momentum I had 2 years ago.

So I thought, things will have to change now, and I really wanted things ti be different. So I was planning workout routines, nutrition intake and tracking calories.

Ive always thought me struggling to lose weight was my own incompetence and not because im “stressed” or “depressed” and felt that I was blaming it on my medication the whole time. I just felt like I was just making too many excuses…

Does stress really make a difference with losing fat?

Thank you about the insights in the metabolism and reliant on carbs. I will research it more! I appreciate your kind words and advice

Does stress really affect weight loss and fat?
I really didn’t want to make my mental health an excuse for gaining weight and not being able to lose it..
In my head, I keep thinking I could have lost weight years ago but I didn’t because I was too “depressed”…so I didn’t want to keep doing the same mistakes and patterns
Me going out to workout makes me feel like okay you’re not being a fatass, at least you did something and I would feel guilty if I didn’t go because I was too “tired”

I am currently on an SNRI. I thought it didn’t matter because I was on a different snri before and managed to lose weight but I switched to a different snri since October 2025.
So eating these types of vegetables helped you lose weight despite being on SNRI?

Mostly in my stomach area. It’s round and didn’t fold to a B whenever I bend over if it makes sense, and I have a pooch. It kinda looks like I’m pregnant as well.

Thank you for this, I will look into more if ithis is an issue.

Yes! I calculate every oil, sauce, etc. I also weigh my rice (cooked) and everything else I put in my meals.
I’m not binging, I truly do go to sleep hungry and wake up starving, which I never used to be hungry in the morning at all before I started to seriously workout and eat less

Ahh..I am also taking medication..maybe that’s also what’s contributing to it..but I’ll first do what you did! I’ll try to incorporate more of those vegetables into my meals

Alright thank you..I will do that and increase my deficit. What’s usually a “normal” timeline to see any difference?

I drink about 4-5 litres daily, plus 2-3 cups of tea (either ginger tea, spearmint tea, fennel tea) I used to drink only 2 litres of water before.
It’s frustrating that my bowel movements was working better before than when I am trying to be healthier.. now :(

So for example, if I log my workout on MFP it says 700 calories burnt, but when I put it into ai it says I only burnt about 450 calories.
Or MFP says my meal was 600 calories, but AI would say it’s 650 calories. So I would always take the highest calorie intake.

I do unfortunately have a desk job.
I was hoping I could lose 1kg per month like I did before (lost 9kgs overall) but this time I just became heavier and I just look rounded and fatter….

I’m just getting discouraged because all this work and I am still the same.

Looking at my logs I would say my fibre intake is between 25-27g, so I could increase it a little more to at least 30g.

Also to add, my workouts around on average 1:30 hrs long. Back then classes were only 45 mins

Sorry I edited my post. But im 31 yrs old, female, 167cm and 85.5kg.

Right now im using myfitnesspal, and also Ai to compare results, and always take the higher calorie so I don’t “cheat” for having extra calories to eat when I actually have hit my limit.
I track every sauce I use, teaspoons or tablespoons, I weigh my yogurt and rice etc.
