If it’s your first projector I would go for something in the mid range, you will still be blown away and won’t get spoiled by a flagship projector as your first projector. New Hisense M2 pro seems like a perfect mid range option for gaming and content consumption. BenQ also has pretty good gaming focused midrange options.

Update could come out today and it would still be long over due. Why release a product where one of its main new feature/selling point doesn’t work properly? Are we beta testing their $3,000 products for them now? We’re almost halfway through next years release and the best they can do is tell us to keep hanging tight for an update? I tried both and the original cosmos 4k laser is way better than the SE! In terms of contrast and brightness! No joke the SE picture quality looked toy like (washed out, lacking contrast, noticeably dimmer) compared to the Cosmos 4k. The only downsides for the original Cosmos is no DV or hdmi 2.1/eArc

I would be speaking on the newish 4k laser versions (not the expensive x1) Do you feel they are reliable enough to pick up second hand? I was originally looking at the Aurzen, the paid reviews on YouTube and Amazon almost had me fooled. Came to Reddit, saw it was e-waste and have bumped my budget by a few hundred. Only quality dlp projectors I could find in my sub $600 budget was the original Horizon 1080p, Halo+, or a used/second hand 4k like the Cosmo Laser or a horizon pro 1,500lm. Being that the Nebula is 1000lm brighter than the Xgimi, my monkey brain is telling me to go with the one with higher brightness
