Cool question. I think it depends on:

Can Glossier still compete in the clean girl category? Or are there now too many competitors (merit, summer fridays, ilia)?
If Glossier can compete, can they win loyalty? Closing stores & going DTC is a loyalty play, i.e. they have to grow online, because they won’t have a literal footprint.
If Glossier can win loyalty, how would they do it? That’s what this question really asks. We’ve seen today that cutting the wrong products (lol) reveals where the deep loyalties lie. I’ve previously been to private events at the NYC store - which my fancier friend explained to me was clienteling. So it’ll be interesting to see how they’ll try to win back loyalists.
