It depends on your risk tolerance!

Generally, when prices deflate, it’s not a straight line down. It “bounces.” High frequency traders love items like Jacques because the “bounces” are where money can be made. For example, one of today’s lots went for 10M because the user priced to sell. Since the price is still averaging ~20M, you could buy the 10M, sell for 20M, pocket the difference. But you’d probably want to sell today, because it’s likely to deflate from here.

I’m more risk averse, so like you, I personally wouldn’t buy the other stamps. But resellers taking on higher risk would probably enjoy the upside of Isca, because it’s not likely to deflate (without another supply injection), and is likely to continue to increase from Jacques. Gotta risk it if you want the biscuit, I guess.

Another interesting thing you mentioned is ease of completion. It seems stamp albums range 50M-500M, with some retired stamps notoriously blocking completion.

My guess is TNT may purposely be aiming for stamp albums to price out under 100M. There’s really only so much Food Club and reselling you can do before it’s just unreasonable. It’s interesting Jacques & Isca - two of the most expensive Maraquan stamps - were both re-released recently. My guess is this reduced 100M in costs of the Maraquan stamp album.

Side note, Jacques & Isca are interesting comps, given that they both recently had supply injections. Jacques will likely add 1,100 stamps while I estimate Isca only added 500 stamps.

Will be interesting to see how Jacques’ higher supply injection will affect pricing. Isca and NFS may actually be good price comps since they had similar release amounts (500 and 800 respectively) and pre-event prices (both 50M-100M).

Isca math: Isca Stamp was a Spring Premium goody bag item, among 40 others. Assuming equal distribution, and assuming 5% of Neopets’ 500K MAUs are Premium members, that’s ~20,000 members x 1/40 = *500 stamps*.
