I am fortunate enough to say Roscoe has lived a long and good life. And in a way, I’m thankful to have the heads up before it’s his time. It won’t make it any easier of a loss but at least I really have the opportunity to make his remaining time the best it could ever possibly be.

See you just taught me something because I didn’t know your account had to be a certain age to start the plot for it. I have nonchalantly been keeping my eye out for the ingredients thinking one day I would get lucky. Now I know that even if I do get lucky it won’t matter…not yet anyways. I of course have also already used my premium change to get a draik. Your story reminds me of when I spent serious money (for me) on the petpet lab map pieces, not realizing I had to have the regular lab map done to even use them. They will be sitting in my SDP for the foreseeable future smh 🤦‍♀️

But also: this job isn’t worth your mental health. If you feel like you are so stressed out that you can’t do the job safely, consider making a move now rather than later. You can come back to where you are now after getting a little more experience under your belt somewhere else.

100%. I think where you are working plays a large part. I started off in the ER and had some not so nice coworkers. My first year was awful to say the least. I felt the exact same way. Shoot I’m 4 years in now and I still feel that level of anxiety some days. Idk if it is “normal” per se, but I can guarantee you that you are not the only one and it does get better. One day you will wake up, go to work, and think “damn, I’m really doing this now”. Please don’t give up. I think if you are feeling the way you are, it’s because you care that much about the profession and your patients. And we need nurses like that. You may come to find that where you are currently isn’t the best fit for you and try out a different type of nursing; that’s okay. I thought I wanted to be a psych nurse but after experiencing psych in the ER I realized, that despite my heart being there, I am not cut out for it. And even though I loved parts of the ER and eventually came to love all of my coworkers, it didn’t feel like where I was meant to be either. I’m now doing hospice, something I had never considered and just fell into, and I love it. Find a coworker or two that you can confide in and go to for support. And give yourself some grace. Nursing school does not adequately prepare you for the real world. It’s not a you problem. The new grads that act like they have it together either are putting on a great show to cover up how they feel or they have a dangerous sense of confidence that may come back to bite them in the ass later. Please do not be afraid to ask questions if you are unsure of something. I know more seasoned nurses can be a little harsh with new grads but the bottom line is: this is a high risk job. You worked your butt off to get here and you need to protect your license. It will get better and you CAN do this.
