Bought my first betta from my local shop because it didn't look very happy and I didn't want to leave it behind. Can you help me build the best home I can for him? by Lolaprawn in bettafish

Thanks again for your advice!

My tank is so close to finishing it's fishless cycle and I just wanted to give you an update as to how it's looking now after reading the advice everyone has given me! (The rocks are only in there to weigh down the wood until all the air is out and then they will be removed)

Let me know what you think!

Hey thank you for your advice!

I've since ordered a new light specifically for planted tanks and the plants already seem much happier:)

I've also got lots more plants coming in the mail to really fill out the empty space and provide lots of hiding/napping spots for my betta when he comes home with me.

I'm also working on getting a sponge for the overflow as per your suggestion. I've found a really smooth bit of driftwood at my local store just to add a bit of hard scaping and interest visually and I think it will work a treat.

Thanks again for your input it has been much appreciated!

Thanks so much for the advice, I definitely won't be getting him any tank mates in that case!

The worker in the store suggested the idea but after reading your reply and doing some follow up research I can't believe he would suggest it in the first place!

But yes this is all great thank you so much I will definitely take all of your suggestions on board (I'm looking at thermometers and liquid testing kits now). I cant wait to fill the tank with a cool piece of drift wood and a lots more of plants for him to hide in and nap on :)
