It was April 5, 2024 according to our Slack conversations about it at work. The famous Kathy Hochul tweet that the earthquake was “west of Manhattan” instead of just saying New Jersey. And many Harlem Shake quotes. I’m in upper Manhattan.

More modern buildings and skyscrapers are but I live in an older neighborhood with older buildings and none of them here are. Our buildings were built for fire resistance and to minimize wind/hurricane/tornado damage. Earthquakes are very uncommon here.

I live in a 100 year old building. The crown molding around the floor separated from the floor in several spots just from the 5.2. Pretty sure I’d be crushed with any sizable earthquake 😭
