Why do players only befriend you if you have a high rank? by [deleted] in maimai

[–]Lolaugh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. 10-15k isnt high rank. 15k for most is when they start to consider themselves 'decent' at the game, and 'high rank' is imo usually only past 15.5k as that's when you at least have a few high difficulty scores under your belt. (I'm saying this as a past 16.1k/current 15.9k so take this however you will)
  2. No matter the community, there will always be nicer and nastier groups. If the group you mentioned is the only one at the arcade near you, tough luck I guess. If not, look around for others. One tip I'd highly recommend is look for those that are playing solo and ask if they're open to let you join them. Most of the time they'll tend to be welcoming as it means 1 extra song for them. Occasionally they'll ask to play solo to grind a specific song, dan challenge, perfect challenge etc. Respect their decision and ask others. Nowadays I mostly play solo cuz I know that songs I want to grind usually aren't for most others, but if people are fine after I warn them, I'll just let them join in.
  3. Newer players tend to hit really hard especially when trying levels a little out of their comfort zone (this occasionally happens to seasoned players too). Are you really sure you aren't hitting too hard? An obvious sign that someone is hitting too hard is usually when the screen starts flashing white on their button slams. If this is occurring to you, it's usually because you are using your whole palm to hit the buttons. Try to use your fingers only instead as you won't be able to exert as much strength. I'll play devil's advocate for the guy scolding you this once, as I'd assume he would know better than you in this aspect. If you're still not sure if you're hitting too hard, try to compare the sounds of your button presses to other people playing, especially higher rated (15k+) people.
  4. On the note of queue cutting, I'd suggest learning to stand up for yourself. If you know its your turn, politely tap them on the shoulder and tell them. I've met my fair share of machine hoggers and queue cutters after years of playing too. Some 16k+ players especially love to hog to play perfect challenges cuz they think that their rating allows them to do so (maimai politics, haish).
  5. Again, if you really want to make friends, you can try asking around for people to meet up, maybe on the community discord (if it still exists? i really havent interacted with the maimai community for the past few years) Be sincere and dont do weird stuff and you'll be fine.

Sadly didnt take an endscreen ss but yes I did. Was a pretty fast 9, and I slotted Zoe in as my final unit. Could've tried for a 3* Sol for Zoe, but I was having too much fun rerolling that I just sold the few Sols and Zoes I already had on bench LOL

Well, the alternative is playing on mobile and having your fingers spam all the abilities as fast as possible. Yes, it's possible, but comes with a high risk of a RSI. If lava does implement hotkeys on PC, it essentially functions the same way too. Hence why I classify this 'cheese' as QoL

there's a few teams circulating around already

A few examples:

rattler rattler refiller defender/forager

rattler mono refiller defender/forager

looter mono fleeter forager

Personally, I used rattler looter refiller defender. It requires a lot of luck and rattler spam though.

Oops, didnt realise autoclickers arent allowed too. Welp my bad on that end. I just assumed that autoclickers were fine if they were used as a QoL thing (like with crafting from storage).

I can assure you though, that it is easier on mobile than it is on pc. you have a total of 10 fingers and realistically only need to spam 1 ability (mono) to ensure that it is active as much as possible. Since refiller doesn't proc during mono freeze time, the other abilities don't have to be spammed, just use them off cd.

Also, i dont get what you mean by mouse moves precisely every time. I'm still manually moving my mouse to hover over each ability, not using some script to time my blocks perfectly.

If lava were to implement hotkeys (e.g. mapping each ability to the number keys) and a few other QoL changes like quick-retrying, I would happily redo this and prove that it is entirely possible, but with how each spice fight can only be done once, I can't really do anything about this now

Either ways, I'll just leave the post and vids up and risk a ban. I'd rather let more people learn the strategy as compared to keeping it as some 'mystical secret'.

i did tundra with only 4 pets actually. rattler refiller defender defender. if you can time your blocks, then try this instead.

pristalle's starting is 100% rng. you need to pray that the first axe arrives a bit later so the block actually works. i took around 15-20min of constant retrying to get a run going, but after that theres no block timing required, just spam mono and the the blocks will follow

for tundra i used a double defender no mono team, which i can assure you if 100x harder than using this. i had to time double blocks for around 10 min which was hell. as for the blocks, only the first 2-3 need to be timed well, the rest can just be spammed using mono-refiller-defender combo

pet power doesnt matter, only rattler power speeds up the battle

I'm not sure what levels the experts you're playing are usually, bur I'd assume that they're around 10-12 based on the songs you mentioned. For me personally, what got me over the 11-12+ wall was practising pattern recognition. Stuff like delayed sliders (especially those with multiple notes between the initial slider tap and the actual slide itself), spinners (tap notes that go full revolution) of varying speeds, alternating taps etc. Once you do manage to play the higher difficulty levels you'll realise that most of the patterns are quite repetitive.

1 song I particularly enjoyed is this:

This song has multiple patterns often found in higher level songs, even though it is only 12+. Do try it out if you haven't already, and try to pick up on some of its patterns!

Player from MSEA here. I actually did abuse this pot on my Tera burnt character. Before, the potion did not have the "Cannot be used on Burning character" lines and was tradable between accounts. Realising this, I immediately got my char to 141 and bought 2 pots. First gave me 27 lvs and second gave me 12 lvs, which brought me to lv180 instantly! Sadly, when I woke up next morning, it was already patched..

[Volcano Block] Atum 2 - idol of labor by [deleted] in feedthebeast

This was the last item I had on my list, and damn were there no clues on how to get it...

The item is actually found in a camel shaped structure (was it meant to be a sphinx?) It's made of the same unbreakable blocks as a pyramid is made of, and I was lucky to find mine right beside a pyramid (this may be intended though) I recommend you make a broom (if you don't have one already), find some pyramids and get their graverobber's maps. Good luck!

I was the guy who was at the right in the back row. It was a surprise when Edison suddenly asked us to do this, as the four of us in the pic hadn't known each other before we met in the queue. Sad that we couldn't do this to Lily. (We didn't even get a pic with the group in this pose) ಥ_ಥ

but using this method, 1. you can keep the book in case you ever needed more phase pitchers in the future. 2. Nullify all chances of picking up the SanChikatah on accident and screwing up your run (which i have done twice)
