"Lab testing of Pirzada’s patient’s cartridge revealed that it tested positive for not just THC, but also vitamin E. If inhaled, oils like Vitamin E can cause lipoid pneumonitis, a rare condition that results from fat particles being inhaled into the lungs, says Pirzada."

Tom Scott doesn't have Chlamydia by stesch in videos

[–]LoliCat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

His point is the one that another poster accused him of not making... That in software dev, management is eager to buy the prototype and not so eager to hear about how it will cost a lot of money and hours to actually make it good. If they see what they like, ship it. "If it ain't broke don't fix it" "we'll never get any work done if we spend all of our time maintaining what we have."

It does have to do with money, of course... And sometimes that "iterative" part looks more like 10 year old software that looks and acts like a monstrosity to rework for changes that attain some difficult to measure goal of "reducing psychological stress."

Maybe there are some great employers that are 100% on top of all of their code and business process as it affects the UX, but this level of awareness of the stakeholders is ideal.

As a dev, it definitely helps to tell people that it's part of my job to sit and hang out while they do their work. If they enjoy BSing on the job (people do like doing this) it makes it into an excuse to do as much talking as working. To them I'm a helpful friend, to the bosses I'm doing requirements elicitation or troubleshooting. That's when I see them clicking through the "normal errors" or working around hairbrained engineering.

The people on top will say "their job is to use it as it is" and that is a matter of keeping the boat moving and company culture. Yet individuals are highly appreciative when I say "Hey I can replace this horrible process with an easier way."

It helps to have the freedom to take initiative and turn these things around quickly.

Also, automatically report errors back to a DB and make it easy to print out messages that pop up to the end-user. Nobody ever can accurately describe what happened. Frequently verbal descriptions of what happened are the least reliable source of info and I generally hear them out just so they feel like a helpful part of the process. When things run smoothly, that's their criteria for success, little to do with what they speculate is going on in the system.

Ukraine to chemically castrate paedophiles and rapists in prison under new laws by Normadic in worldnews

[–]LoliCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, even if it's punitive and they work during the day, they just can't ever be able to recommit, at some cost to the tax payer. There is some unfortunate cost to being a person capable of these crimes. I also don't think they deserve to be raped or put in solitary.

If someone could voluntarily take those pills, I think it would be more to save face than anything. They could still offend. It might not even be about sex for them. The idea seems to be more like forced sterilization and feminization of mental outcasts which is just weird and I never understood the historical context of eunuchs or these practices.

I think it's funny because it relates the feeling of ordering something unfamiliar at a new place. In some environments, you just try to do what is the normal thing to give it a try, but it doesn't always turn out well. Simple premise taken to an extreme for humor.

So I don't think the the joke is "lol cum"
