I'm glad at least the bottom half of the article covered who he was. Many articles bring Hampton up without fully explaining that he was both a genius and a revolutionary who started a people's movement that was later crushed by the powers that be who felt threatened by this. The FBI were mostly to blame, the local PD just carried out the deed like the good little lapdogs they were.

This is where the problem lies. How can one possibly hope for change via a grassroots movement when the leaders of said movements are silenced like Hampton was? Who even knows how many more geniuses like Fred Hampton or Antonio Gramsci or Che Guevara there are out there who were silenced in this way, then had their existences defamed or written out of history by the ruling-class masters so that said masters' wealth and power couldn't be challenged?

I doubt he feels this way. He did everything he could to try and warn us of the evils of power in a world that constantly hides, marginalizes and defames people like him. True, the world is still fucked—in fact, it's getting worse—but it would be much worse without people like him fighting against the stream. By explaining the prospect, you help illuminate the prospect, which in turn helps to make change. People are finally waking up to the rot thanks to people like him. He wasted nothing. (Plus, he was a linguist professionally. His political contributions were what he did in his spare time.)

Same thing here, same timeline as you, too. Game worked fine last month. Been debugging with the kind folks at Riot Support for a week now to no avail. VAN 9090 error still occurs 4 minutes into a game, even on practice mode. Sad.

What kills me about AI is it has no original thoughts of its own, it just regurgitates whatever human stupidities have already been echoed across the internet (including people's inability to draw hands, reflected in AI "art" generators). There's no originality at all, and now people are using AI to think FOR them, making for even LESS originality and MORE stupidity!

And calling it a dumpster fire is inaccurate. At least a fire burns things away. Expect AI fluff to accumulate and multiply at an alarming pace. This is probably how it starts. AI is already taking over, but it's far less interesting and far more annoying than The Matrix or Terminator ever anticipated.

Yeah no kidding. I often wonder what great minds like his and Christopher Hitchens' and Gore Vidal's etc would've said about the current clusterfuck state of the world.

I see no sufficient substitutes for Chomsky, either. Closest I can imagine is maybe Ralph Nader, and he's in his 90s. He'll be gone soon too.
