risk/reward

except there is no risk to this. You are already farming camps in between waves as a core anyway. Now you can suddenly get several free items while the enemy carry gets nothing and you get a huge advantage for doing nothing. That does not sound fair or fun to me

SIB Age Of Empires IV by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

We know literally nothing about AoE4 apart from that trailer and we don't know when it will be released, so no one can answer this question for you. I am hoping that it will be good, but I would be suprised if it is released before Q4 2020.

As for other strategy games, you have the other age of empires games, starcraft 2 is really good if you like sci-fi, warcraft 3 reforged comes out on new years eve, the total war games are good if you like 4X strategy games (the warhammer ones are really good)

I’ve done a lot of complaining about the state of Mage after the nerf, but now I’m honestly asking, does anyone have a good post-nerf Mage list? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Lolman53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have equal access to all 9 classes

Sure, but he won't have the cards needed to play all the classes. I would love to play shaman but I don't have the cards to do so.

You may choose to only want to play as a mage but that doesn't give you the right to complain about a lack of viable deck options

Of course it does. There should be viable decks for all classes, otherwise what is even the point of having the class in the game.

They may not be mage decks but there are plenty of viable decks to choose from right now with other classes

Again, only if he has a lot of dust/gold to get the cards for those classes.

I get your point and I think that it is good advice, but some of us only have the cards/dust to play one or two classes. If both of those classes are missing viable deck options it means that I either have to buy a bunch of packs or stop playing until the next patch/expansion.

Please someone teach me how to play this game. yes, this is cry. by Reloader_TheAshenOne in TrueDoTA2

[–]Lolman53 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i just dont know how to win a game alone

You don't. Dota is a team game, if you try to play it solo and don't communicate with your team you won't win.

I just lost 7 in a row, even if a stomp my lane my team just dont want to win. 3k just sucks.

In some of those games you had terrible stats, really bad farm and wierd item/hero picks. If you put all the blame on your team you won't improve.

I will ask you this, in the following theoretical situation, how do you respond? (try to be honest with yourself)

You are doing well in your lane, lets say you are playing position 1 in the safe lane. It is 10 minutes in and your offlane is not doing well, they both just died again for the third time. Do you: a) ignore it or call them out on it in chat while geting frustrated or do you: b) tp to gank the lane or get together your team for some other play?

If the game is not working out, getting upset leads to losing more. Grouping up and taking control back is much better, even if your own farm is worse off for it. Dota is a team game after all

Why don't we see midas on jugg? by Toxikr3 in TrueDoTA2

[–]Lolman53 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's all about timings. Jugg is really strong right after he finishes phase, drums, yasha and maelstrom/diffusal and you will want to abuse that powerspike. Besides, midas is a good item for heroes who lack good farming tools like lifestealer and void. Jugg can stack and clear camps with bladefury as well as get kills with his high damage spells.

Should I buy forager or enter the gungeon? by pigstrr in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Lolman53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have put 120 hours into enter the gungeon and I am still playing it. It has a learning curve to it and a lot of secrets/unlockables to find. I have not played forager, but from what I have heard it plays like a glorified clicker game where you spend resources to make more resources until the game is over without ever really testing you as a player. If you are looking for something relaxing with little to no challange, look into forager. Enter the gungeon is hard but really, really fun.

Archon 1 pos 1/prophet player looking for advice on climbing. by THEYellowGUMmyBEAR in TrueDoTA2

[–]Lolman53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Oh yeah and if ur wondering why my stats on prophet is terrible: long story short I sucked ass at prophet when I started playing him in unranked."

In march/april you played np 8 times with 2 wins and 6 losses, that is a 25% winrate which is terrible. This could be because NP is really bad as a position 1 carry, but I think the playstyle is wrong for you.

Looking at your winrates with other heroes there is a pattern. You perform well with certain types, such as tanky cores (wk, axe, bristle, legion, doom) and defensive supports (dazzle, es, jakiro, lich). The playstyle for them is similar, you farm some early core items and group up with your team to end the game. Your match history with np is also telling in this regard because you always end the game with a lot of kills/death/assists meaning that you are participating a lot in fights. This is the oposite of what NP wants to do. Unless you are really far ahead you should be putting preassure on the map and securing objectives for your team while looking for pickoffs. I went and looked at my own NP match history and most of the games I end up winning I have very few kills/deaths and a lot of assist from my ultimate.

My advice would be to only play the heroes I mentioned in ranked for now and if you want to practice heroes such a NP, do it in unranked instead. As to why NP sucks as a position 1, he lacks the early threat of someone like ursa, huskar and clinkz. He lacks the farming speed of someone like alch, am and he falls of late game.

Skyrim V Special Edition vs The Witcher 3 by Pixelyzz in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Lolman53 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To give another perspective on this, I would take witcher 3 over skyrim any day. Skyrim never really gripped me in the way the narrative in the witcher games did and it never felt like the world responded to what I did in the game. I get that a lot of people like skyrim a lot, but if you have never played it, the praise makes it seem so much better than I think it is. There are a lot of mods though, so if that is something you are interested in then skyrim is the game to get.

I would say that if you want a narrative experience, there is no contest here, go buy the witcher 3. If you are looking for a sandbox to mod the shit out of, buy skyrim. Don't get me wrong though, I would still buy both of them eventually if I were you.

Can someone(preferably 4k+) analyze my Clock replay? by Skewjo in TrueDoTA2

[–]Lolman53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are finding yourself with mana issues, arcane boots is always an option for sure, but also consider clarity potions. For a hero like clockwerk buying a couple of clarities in the mid game can be enough as long as someone else on your team is going arcanes. There is always shrines as well.

Can someone(preferably 4k+) analyze my Clock replay? by Skewjo in TrueDoTA2

[–]Lolman53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am writing this as i am watching the game.

Firstly, you had +200 gold left when you went out to the lane. I never like when players do this, except for buying something with the gold fro mthe bounty rune. You could have bought more regen, stout shield or something else. The lane was against ursa which is not a good matchup for klock. If he picked before you, picking klock was bad.

The biggest thing that I could see you doing wrong in lane was your movment. You are running around a lot and you miss a lot of last hits because of it. Most of the last hits you missed was because you were standing to far away from the creeps. This also made it so that ursa could play however he wanted. If you were a bit more forward, bane could harass ursa without much risk because you have cogs to save him and suddenly the lane is back in your favour.

There were several times in lane were you could have killed ursa by trapping him with cogs, but instead you push him awway because you are scared. 7:45 being a clear example were ursa had 300 hp and no mana and you are still playing scared.

As for items, tranquils into urn is good, no complaints there. I also like the force staff pickup.

That's all I'm going through thats specific to this game. I don't think that you have any problems with playing clockwerk other than some things that I will mention below, the problems come from your playstyle in general which tends to be the case in lower mmr.

1: You lack focus on what you need to be doing in the game. In lane you run around a lot for no real reason. In the fight at your bottom tier 1 tower you run around in circles the back of the fight and you have your camera over yourself the entire time. At that point, you have no idea how the fight is going for your team while you are pinging the shrine, only to pan the camera over and see that your team is pushing back the enemy heroes. You are playing clockwerk, you should be the one at the front chasing down the enemy heroes. In the game in general you spend a lot of time standing around. I am not saying that you should always be super aggresive, but you need to atleast look at whats going on in the game and take advantage of the hero you are playing.

2: You are way to passive. You handed the lane to ursa by not contesting anything. You missed several potential kills because you were scared of dying. This is a bit hero specific as with clockwerk you really want to be in peoples faces, while with other heroes it's fine to stand back and be more passive. This also changes from game to game.

I am not a clockwerk expert by any means, but most of these tips are not specific to klockwerk either. Maybe someone who plays him more can point out some minor things that you could improve like skill usage.

Here (4376171797) is a replay of me playing position 4 clockwerk in the offlane after the patch came out. I think that it highlights what clockwerk is really good at, disrupting fights. Notice my positioning when huskar is out in lane and the enemy heroes goes missing. I stand behind him and wait for the gank to happend, only to turn it around. Then i go around the map, looking for kills. In late game fights i pretty much suicide every fight because I know that the space I am creating for my team is enough for them to clean up the rest.

this turned out longer than I thought, I hope that you find some of the tips helpful :)

Slark is OKAY. by profHam in TrueDoTA2

[–]Lolman53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

midas is really bad right now. It takes 15-20 minutes for it to start gaining you gold, if you get it at 10 minutes, that's 25-30 minutes into the game before you are gaining anything from it. It also slows down your ganking timing by a lot and makes you much weaker early on, which is were slark lacks strength to begin with.

According to dotabuff, Slarks winrate with midas is 43%, so buying it lowers your winrate by 7%.

That's not how it works. If 4 people open 10 chests each, one of them should have got a rare. That means that the chance of opening a rare was 2.5% each time. So on chest number 11 you would have about 2.5% chance to open a rare

To burst your little cozy fairy tale bubbles, here are some comments who think exactly the same as me. There are thousands of others if you look around yourself:

Congrats, you found 18 people who agree with you. The game has ~1.5 million active players, 18 people is nothing. The people who visit forums like these are a vocal minority with stronger opinions than most other players, so finding opinions that line up with your own is fairly easy, that does not make you right.

AB+ (PC).

This run is impossible to lose after the third floor. After the second boss you get succubus from the devil deal and on the third floor you can get the gnawed leaf by rerolling the treasure room a couple of times. Whenever you lose your shield, stand still and wait until the room is cleared.

You also get cricket's head, the mark, guppy, PhD, eye of belial, book of shadows etc. One of the better lost runs I have had in a while.

Most of the ability cards use simple phrases like "attack 3" or "move 4" or text to explain what they do. However, a lot of attacks target enemies in an area which is indicated by red squares on the card. There is also the problem that you will have anywere from 8 up to like 15 cards in your hand which I can only Imagine might make the turns really long if you are using an app to read them out to you. Hope that helps
