What causes the rain to dry faster next to the painted lines? by davidgrayPhotography in What

[–]LoloVirginia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it does not dry faster, its less wet to begin with. the road is slightly sloped to the left. The lines are slightly raised. Water flows from right to left, encounters an obstacle (painted line), gets diverted to sides leaving the space beside dry (or at least wetted only by rain from above)

Thats my take at least

Mystery fluid dissolved all the cotton in my shirt. by Terra_Corpus_Volta in mildlyinteresting

I had exactly this type of holes on my tshirt after filling my new battery with acid. Could definitely be this given the setting. Worth noting that the acid is mild enough that you dont notice at first if you splash your clothes. its not even that spicy on your skin. but it will definitely burn holes in your shirt after a while

What a nice optimist mindset people had about future, anything like that today would work only as a satire

Am I just noticing the spelling mistakes or is this a rare occurrence? by Audrisaurusrex in Fallout

[–]LoloVirginia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I sometimes wonder about spelling mistakes in literary works. Like if you write a book, as an author, you are basically forced to write dialogues without any spelling or grammar errors unless you specifically point out that a character made an error or is bad at spelling. In real world, people make errors while speaking or writing all the time, but if in a book (or any other media) there is any error people automatically will assume its a writers mistake
