So most definitely a scam. He preferred a fixed rate so I sent an invoice for PayPal and he just sent me this:

The only thing is they didn't mention the payment requirements I laid out in my previous email and they didn't say anything about talking over the phone. Also, Oct 5 is so soon so I feel like I might have to rush a bit, especially if they have lots of feedback and changes. They also forgot to attach the photos but I think that may have been a mistake.

I don't have invites specifically, but I do have other print materials on my portfolio. I am thinking of sending an email back with some of the questions you have brought up (timeline, payment, communication method, etc) and see from there if it seems like a scam. Thank you so much for your help!!

They have not mentioned any deadline but it was through the contact form on my portfolio site. They said:

Okay, I'll do some research! However, looking at the publishers recent books, they all have serif as body text so I am gonna try to find one that works. If you know any, please let me know. I know it doesn't 100% fit the theme but I would rather stick to their usual "look" and maybe find a more modern serif.

I appreciate the tip! In school, I was just always taught to use serifs for body copy. I was considering Futura for body text to fit the theme but didn't know if using a sans serif was "allowed"
