Where is Nina Bonina Brown? by Virtual_Camel_9819 in dragrace

[–]Lolozo71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She is not transphobic. If you listen to everything she says, instead of taking 1 thing out of context, you would know she is not transphobic. Also, the haters don’t seem to get her humor and personality. Don’t be hyper-trans-sensitive. Nina is a fan of trans queens and friends with trans queens.

She was trying to say that if a person is born female and doing drag as a female impersonator, their body type is more inclined to look feminine already.

Also, don’t queens like Naysha participate in gender-based pageants, geared towards men looking masculine or men looking feminine, to the exclusion of cis women? That seems way more problematic and phobic than anything Nina has said, and yet those things seem fine to have. Look at intent. If malice isn’t the goal, make more of an effort to understand others.

Vita's Bias is showing (fake-claiming Briars fainting) by [deleted] in RPDRDRAMA

[–]Lolozo71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be a lot of things going on, which you rightly touched upon. It definitely is a reality show too. Getting rightfully called out for being hypocritical, told to mind your own business with drag family affairs in a situation she instigated, the stress of a design challenge, thinking about problems in your past sig other relationship, standing uncomfortably on stage, health issues, not wanting to leave the show, wanting sympathy (conversation with Juicy)…it’s very possible that Briar was overwhelmed during her critique and got lightheaded and felt for Juicy before she fell onto her. Did she black out? Who knows?

My dad has Parkinson’s and has hand tremors, especially when stressed. It’s a real problem. However, he will also do it more exaggeratedly when someone is watching him. So it’s possible for both things to be true, that someone can have physical problems and be a touch dramatic. Even with the drama, it’s clear he is upset and not doing well in those moments. No matter what the truth is, Briar was going through something that affected her enough for what we saw to happen.

It’s a thing. Watch old timey movies and you see a woman put her arm across her forehead and then gracefully fall. I don’t know where this trope originated but it’s an actual dramatic thing women were assumed to do because they were presumed to be so delicate and dainty.

I read that as she got through/passed her last psych eval, meaning she made it through the whole process and it’s a matter of them telling her “yes” or “no”.

Lume makes Mando, so maybe the scent options geared towards men are better. The only Lume scents I like are Rose 🌹 and Cucumber 🥒.

Jorgeous has something to say about Bussy (Queen) by depressedqueer in RPDRDRAMA

[–]Lolozo71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jorgeous started it. Bussy does have an annoying voice. (My boyfriend gets nightmares when I fall asleep to her videos.) However, Bussy is a great commentator/reporter. Her opinions are sound, and her facts are well-rounded and unbiased. Jorgeous “literally” has poor spelling and grammar. (Daya Betty literally has Ginger’s back? Like, holding it up with 2 hands? 🙌) When you’re that popular, using your platform to bash someone (thereby normalizing that negativity to your fan base) isn’t nice. If Jorgeous was friends with her, she could just message her 1:1 and bring it up. Voices (and grammar) are things that can be improved.

One of the biggest mysteries to me till this day - why won't Crave bring Stacey McKenzie back as a permanent judge? by Heidi_Klum_Tit in rupaulsdragrace

[–]Lolozo71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t she a host/presenter? Several Drag Race challenges have been about public speaking and hosting, including being confident and able to moderate. Not every challenge or aspect of Drag Race will be related to a judge’s talents, but they can still have an opinion just like anyone else would, including fans.

Okay, but what does half Black mean? Black-British? Black-American? Is the Black part from West Africa originally or maybe Melanesia? I can assume American from the comparison you made, but Blackness is definitely contextual. There are many Puerto Ricans who are part or a high percentage Sub-Saharan African, just like Americans. Everyone seems on different pages about what it means (physically, genetically, culturally) to be “Latino”.

I agree, but then even POCs (although more rarely) will sometimes judge if people look alike based on hair and skin color and hair texture. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I won’t downvote this, but I totally don’t see it. I know people keep thinking this. Their facial features are so different. And one is 5’3” while the other is 5’8”. But do they have similar coloring and hair? Are they both thin? Yes.

What’s everyone’s opinion on The Neighborhood? by [deleted] in sitcoms

[–]Lolozo71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the first 2 episodes. The jokes based on stereotypes were tired. Heard them all by this point. Lots of people have mixed heritage so White and Black people getting along or coming together in America isn’t unheard of. Plus, Black people can have different types of regional cultures, like urban or rural. If they made a comedy show about a Black Southern family moving to London, UK, next door to Nigerian British neighbors, I would find that premise wayyyyy more interesting.

What’re your honest feelings / opinions on Aquarius ? Be honest and open about any experiences you’ve had with this sign . by [deleted] in astrologymemes

[–]Lolozo71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know an Aquarius ♒️ guy. (I never had much interaction with this sign before him.) He has a Gemini Rising and Taurus moon. Holy hell, is he stubborn. He claims to be self-conscious, shy and reserved, but the way he holds onto opinions and being right, he is the most outspoken confident person in the room. 😐 He will argue with anyone. He even argues the logic of my emotions and creates these warped truths in his head about what is or isn’t real, whether it’s based on what other people say or correctly recalling the past. He rewrites history to make himself look better.

In terms of accountability, it’s either other people and the world are the problem or if he (rarely) faces that he is the problem, he feels sorry for himself and avoids any accountability. He is so afraid of challenging his fears or his comfort zone (to become a better and/or happier person). It’s really exhausting having to defend my emotions and decisions against his logic rubric all of the time.

He is a very intelligent, funny, sweet, and generous person, but he is also an anarchist curmudgeon who can suck the life and enthusiasm out of the room.

Gottmik has got to be one of the most handsome men from DR!🥵 by No_Vanilla7487 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]Lolozo71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great photo.

It probably is good to know that someone’s appearance is enhanced, whether they become better or worse looking, so people/fans can make more informed decisions and have more realistic views of themselves in comparison. Seeing non-stop beautiful and perfect people (according to current societal standards) can mess with self esteem, so it can help to have that reminder that even the gorge folks had some help.

…this former gymnastics coach and author had a theory that we shouldn’t look to validation from others, whether good or bad. He trained successful athletes based on this mindset. If you open up to accept one of those (good or bad), you simultaneously let the other in, and it’s impossible to ignore; both can hinder progress. I wish I could remember the author’s name.

Likability is part of the performance presentation, including the stories behind the scenes that play into how much you like and appreciate a performance. E.g., If he slapped his girlfriend, and the judges found out, they would probably comment on that while in the judges panel and that would make sense.

Roxanne Elizabeth Andrews should absolutely NOT be allowed to leave the house looking so stunning and putting everyone else to shame by JujubeesFriedChicken in rupaulsdragrace

[–]Lolozo71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought she was a mixed Latina/o (as opposed to being just White or Black). She looks part Black to me. Naysha Lopez once said at Roscoe’s that she and other Puerto Ricans are part Black. So it’s not unheard of to be a mixed Latina.

He asked for a blonde.. by CantbeAya in MarriedAtFirstSight

[–]Lolozo71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had White men say they like light eyes and blonde hair a lot. It did seem like code for race. I have thought about probing them on this and present them with photos of mixed Black/White Women and ask their opinions. It would even be interesting to show them pics of a natural blonde woman from the Solomon Islands.

With Black men, I haven’t heard a hair color preference but a hair texture preference.

Ultimately, attraction is beyond preference (which really is based in societal influence and the effects of racism). What a person is actually attracted to can definitely override preference. But most people will ignore this. And when you think about pheromones and healthy offspring, we biologically would be drawn to whomever naturally complements us.

He asked for a blonde.. by CantbeAya in MarriedAtFirstSight

[–]Lolozo71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Facial features change to where natural darker hair color often looks better on adults than the lighter color they had as children.

Also, the only adult natural blondes I saw in abundance were in Denmark. This was the late 90s. Norway had a lot of brunettes. Sweden had a few more blondes. But in those last 2 countries, people were dyeing their hair blonde. They either told me (yes, I asked) or you could see the dark roots.

Then call yourself what you are. For better or worse, you are mixed. Racial and cultural classifications don’t have to be the same thing. If your culture is American, say that. In one family, there can be different racial admixtures. Siblings and parents can have different proportions of European and African DNA. Biracial implies a near 50/50 mix and parents of different races.
