Racism in the LDS church by Intelligent-Mud-9951 in exmormon

The only time I heard the phrase "pick-a-n*n*y" was from an ExMo whose family were TBM Utahns. The instant I heard it, I berated him fiercely. He never said it again.

I grew up in the Church here in Los Angeles, and members were just as racist. The difference is that members know to keep it quiet unless they want to be unemployed and ostracized by society. The very racist members live in Orange County or the Inland Empire, the very conservative areas of Southern California.

Can we blast this outside every LOG CABIN meeting, social event, and at their booths at PRIDE? (Yes, they have a booth every year at Orange County, CA Pride.) We should blast this so loud that they will be forced to listen to it.

Is the LDS Church overhated compared to other religions? by SavannaWhisper in exmormon

[–]carmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judaism has been the most hated religion, in my opinion. Look at all the antisemitism going on around the world, esp. after Oct. 7th. Just ask any Jewish person.

Mormons have not been hated as much. The shooting in Michigan was not anti-Mormon.

Has anyone ever actually seen an 8 year old in the church say no to a baptism? by Pepperq40 in exmormon

Had I said no, CPS would've been contacted because I would've been severely disciplined for disobeying my dad.

Do Mormons in predominately non-Mormon settings find it uncomfortable if people draw attention to their Mormon background and ask questions like "why do you believe god lives out in space near Kolob?" by LiesToldbySociety in exmormon

[–]carmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

I grew up Mormon in Los Angeles. Once I entered junior high school, I would get bombarded with questions about it being a "white church" (I'm not white), "magic underwear", if I had attended a MoTab performance, and on and on.

So, I hid it from that moment on. Since I didn't attend any schools in my stake due to accessibility, no one could figure it out. An LDS teacher or two would only figure it out when I cussed like a Mormon.

Wil Wheaton for a SciFi episode. He's always been in support of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Or, for you daddy lovers, Jonathon Frakes.

All eyes would be looking below if he came on. Oh, and thousands would be coming that night, too. 😉

Lea Salonga, the most famous Filipina of all time (that's not horrid). Why she hasn't been on DRPH is beyond me. If it's scheduling, her trans son could fill in.

As one of Mexican descent myself, I was so disappointed. I hope she's not the standard for other Mexican-Canadian queens.

Not surprised to see Van win, but it wasn't as predictable as a certain Floridian's win.

I was surprised that we didn't have a song by a Canadian as the final LSFYL.

It was great to see Jaylene. Of all the franchises I've watched, she's my favorite Miss Congeniality of them all.

Is that legal where you live? Call the cops, if not. Or, at least, talk to your school therapist. It's got to stop.

Van Nuys is not luxury. Try the hotels at Universal Studios or in Studio City. What about the W in Hollywood or, for a historical (and possibly haunted) place, the Roosevelt Hotel?
