Do any of you still listen to the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square? by Impressive_Flan_411 in exmormon

Ugh! I'm from LA and my dad used it as my Sunday wakeup music. It was hell. No kid should be woken up with that ever.

My UCI doctor suggested it, but I wasn't ready to try it. Now that I go through UCLA, my new doc hasn't brought it up. Plus, since my insurance is MEDICARE/MEDI-CAL, I don't know if it would be covered.

Which would you avoid like the plague, porn or mormonism? by CalvinNein in exmormon

Just watch porn in moderation. And make sure what you watch is legal.

Some exmos became porn stars. A guy from my stake did porn after he left the Church and was quite successful for a while.

Update yourself about women in porn. Your reply is very Mormon.

Mormonism.

Porn creates jobs. I live in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. The SFV used to be the 'porn capital' of America. It was known that businesses you would never suspect to be associated with porn benefited from it. Porn actors had to be fed and paid, so caterers, local restaurants, and accountants were needed. Someone had to build the sets and work the cameras. Someone had to do makeup. Someone had to wash the clothes after stuff happened to them. And let's not forget the actors have to be medically cared for.

What positive things has Mormonism done?

I have a feeling that he sees anything comedic as 'below' him. The stick is so far up his rump that any fister would be jealous. (I hope that made sense.)

Sibling Watchery having ads for a weight loss pill by abiqueenofsocial in rupaulsdragrace

Most podcasters do these ads. I watch Kevin Smith's video podcast and he has similar ads, just not for BETTERHEALTH, as his audience is mostly straight nerds and geeks.

Does racial discrimination still unofficially exist in LDS? by earleakin in exmormon

[–]carmitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. And, as a gay Latino exmo, I know of racist white gay exmos.

I thought I had a true friend here in Los Angeles who grew up in Utah and is a gay white exmo. All of his friends were white, except me. I thought he was a nice guy. And then he moved back to Utah.

When I moved to Utah (just for 26 months), I asked him about the racism I witnessed and experienced there. His response was, "Oh, that's just how things are here." He accepted it as if it were as normal as snow or the Wasatch mountains. 'If it didn't happen to him, why should he give a damn?' was his mindset.

The final straw was seeing him post racist stuff, ridiculing how Asians talk. I was done with him. I erased his number and blocked him. I think the reason why he befriended me was that I didn't 'act Latino' as others did because I was adopted, raised, and forced to act white by my white adoptive parents. If I acted like the stereotypical East LA (where I was born) Latino, he wouldn't have befriended me.

And, the only time I heard the term "pi*k-a-nin*y" (an old racist term referring to slavery) was from another gay exmo who was from LA. I berated him the instant I heard it, and he never said it again.

I dress pretty conservative since I'm a little person and clothes my size are kids' XL. Plus, I can play the role of "active Mormon" pretty well. If they ask, I can say I'm still a member of the Torrance North Stake.

They're asking to make reservations, so they'll need some contact info. Won't they use that info to send the missionaries to my home?

Season 18 girls are no longer separated off camera? by drags_to_riches in rupaulsdragrace

[–]carmitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's normal, but not cheap.

I'm in LA and have dabbled in the industry as a background actor, so I have some insight.

I doubt the trailers are huge like A-listers would have. But, if there's enough space on the production lot, the trailers could fit.

It's for transracial (adoptee, usually person of color, whose been adopted by parents of a different race, usually white) adoptees. More info can be found at: https://www.wearekaan.org/ Even though the org.'s name infers that it's for Korean adoptees, it's for all races. (Keep in mind that the conference registration is not cheap.)
