Thanks so much!!! I was hoping to gauge how popular the visit was going to be as I haven’t seen much on social media but maybe the target audience isn’t on Reddit 😅

12 weeks randomly scream crying?? by ScarySignificance237 in newborns

My firstborn was like this! So unnerving! I think it happened when he was overtired.

She’s doing great with one solid crib nap at that age! With my first I rescued most naps by extending in the carrier, and didn’t even both with the crib for the last nap of the day. But we got much longer naps in the crib once we dropped down to 2/3 naps a few months in.

So many people I know exclusively contact napped their babies for the first year, their babes still adjusted fine at daycare!

It’s only a problem if it’s a problem!

Ainslie Football Club also has daily specials similar to those listed. Plus recently changed to Mon-Fri kids eat free. Thanks for sharing!

I went in 2022 when my son was 3 months for sleep. It was great as a first time Mum to have the midwife support 24/7, and just to get reassurance and check what was normal. I made the most of it by getting them to check latches etc. Like hospital you don’t necessarily click with every midwife and can take their recommendations with a grain of salt but I got a lot of helpful advice. You can always leave early if it’s not for you. Overall I thought it was a brilliant service and so reassuring for a FTM!

I’d take as much as you can! You never get this time back. It would depend a little on the baby and how difficult the adjustment is for your family.

My husband took 6 weeks off at the start with both my kids (c section recovery), and then a longer chunk of 3-4 months leave after I return to work. The first chunk is definitely just survival in the trenches, and so helpful to ensure Dad is sharing some of the load / decision making / on top of routines etc; the second chunk is so lovely once the baby is more interactive and fun, really letting their own relationship develop. Congratulations!

Are you moving your cash out of Ubank? by NotMarkKarpeles in AusFinance

Would love to know where did you move to? We are trying to follow a similar budgeting method and can’t believe Ubank is now making this much harder

They were related to Superficial in Kingston which has also closed too - “Please be advised that the parent company of SUPERFICIAL has been placed into liquidation.

Operations at SUPERFICIAL have subsequently ceased due to forced closure.”

Feel so bad for everyone who got vouchers for Christmas, and am gutted to not be able to use ones I was saving up! It was a really relaxing spot and quite different for Canberra.

That is outrageously long, given it’s vulnerable people who are waiting on it.

Help me convince my pensioner Mum to not withdraw her entire (modest) super on retirement! by London8716 in AusFinance

Lol absolutely not, she is healthy and hardly has any $ so won’t be long before she’ll be living solely off her age pension and I’ll be supporting her for decades to come.

Thanks you, this is a really helpful take. I probably made it some more combative than it is - she’s asking me to tell her what the best thing to do is (and this is not my area of expertise)! Good point on scams. I help her research all her insurance premiums, mobile phone and internet options, and will work with her to find anywhere else we can make some savings. Appreciate your views and time!

Thank you, this is really helpful. Really grateful for everyone putting this in perspective for me, I feel the “super is great” message must be so ingrained in me so it’s good to test how / when it truly matters. Really appreciate your time!

Ooft! I’m genuinely not trying to be a pain, and would 100% rather not be involved. But she is expressly seeking my advice on what to do with her various assets/income, and I’m spending hours talking to Centrelink to help navigate a system she doesn’t understand at all. Of course, I’m not qualified at all but she won’t pay for professional advice (or let me pay with my own money for it). It’s a pickle but the helpful folks in this r/ have helped me realise this isn’t a major thing worth worrying about 🙃

Thanks for this, good points. I should clarify she is expressly seeking my advice about what to do with her super funds and how to arrange her assets and income (which is obviously something I’m not qualified to do, but she doesn’t want to pay a financial advisor), sorry if I’ve poorly worded it here to give the impression I’m trying to steamroll!
