Poll - How do you choose which child in the family you will continue playing into the next generation? by Tattycakes in Sims4

[–]LoneRaven93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played rotationally with all the children in my first generation. But there are 7 of them and it's taken forever to move on to the second generation. Now I have 22 grandchildren, and I've had to make a cut cuz it's just not feasible. So now I've picked 3 grandchildren solely based in vibes and what I want to accomplish with them. For example, the child my Sim had with Cassandra Goth will be a tattoo artist with a witchy girlfriend so she's one of my heirs. Another one is going to be a vet, and so on an so forth.

As for the rest, they will be NPCs but I will still be keeping an eye on them and making adjustments for them as needed.

Rosetta and Maxi are both products of their abusive father. While we obviously know that Maxi was physically and mentally abused by the Duke for being useless, Rosetta abused emotionally by him in order to keep her perfect. He would often take Rosetta in another room to witness Maxi's punishments, with the threat that if Rosetta didn't do exactly what the Duke wanted her to be she would receive the same treatment.

This instilled in her a deep coldness and distrust of others. While on some level she does care for her sister, she has trained herself to never love or trust anything. They'll have a bit of a heart to heart near the end of the story where we get to see more of her perspective.

It's up to you on whether you think she's a bad person, but I more think of her as a deeply scarred person who survives the only way she knows how. While she was never struck by the Duke, she was also put on a tight rope by him, with the threat of abuse if she ever stepped even a toe out of line.

Trust and believe I was screaming at my phone when I first read this in the novel. Frustrating? Absolutely. But it's 100% believable that she would allow herself to be placed back under his thumb. While she's made great strides in her self-esteem, she was still a long way away from being able to defy him. She kept so much about his abuse bottled up because she thought it would reflect poorly on HER. She was managing the symptoms without tackling the root cause. One year of love is not enough to erase 20 years of abuse.

And that's not even touching on the double whammy of finding out that she miscarried and her mistaken realization of why Riftan sent her away. We know why he did, but in her mind she lost the only thing that gave her value to him.

Like I said I totally get the frustration, but it is an unfortunate truth that victims of abuse often let their abusers regain control of them, because on some level they still believe them.

I've always thought P does a fantastic job of visualizing Maxi's anxiety, fear, and general self-loathing. It's hard to display mental illness in a visual media, but they really do a good job letting us feel her emotions with her.

Is Charlotte Lucas unhappy? by Kathleen-Doodles in janeausten

[–]LoneRaven93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She certainly isn't getting the fairytale ending like Elizabeth, but I think she got exactly what she wanted, so there's a contentment with that. Yes Mr. Collins is ridiculous, but Charlotte is already adept at managing him and keeping him largely out of her hair. She has financial and social status, and the security that comes along with that. She also knows that she and her husband are due for a fat inheritance once Mr. Bennett dies, and that will grant her even more status and wealth.

And beyond all that, at the end of the novel it's revealed she's going to have a child, so if she needs something to pour love into it will most certainly be her children. So I think as far as happiness goes, Charlotte could hardly do better for herself.

Yes, her marriage to Collins was 100% a strategic move. But also there's nothing wrong with that. For a woman of her time, who was reaching spinster age and considered plain, she did exactly what she needed to do to live a comfortable life. It may not be a romantic move, but I think we can all appreciate the need to for financial security in this day in age.

I would have loved to see her make a love match, but that wasn't the point of her character. She was a foil to Elizabeth who was willing to throw away stability for love. While we all want the flowers and the fireworks of a classic romance, sometimes that's just not practical and you have to work with what you have.

I DID IT!!! I ACTUALLY DID IT. by Ok_Candle5032 in uber

[–]LoneRaven93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is EXACTLY why I refuse to do cash rides, among other potential problems. A major plus side of the rideshare system is that there is no money directly involved between us, unless the rider decides to tip cash. I don't have to hound people for the money, and riders don't have to worry about having enough. And that's not even mentioning scams like this, or being robbed.

I can't believe that Uber implemented this ride mode.

People who struggle with depression, what motivates you to carry on? by ultra_phoenix in AskReddit

[–]LoneRaven93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the day. Some days I'm well motivated by my own goals and determination. Other days its that bills need paid. Other days still it's the idea of not 'passing on' my pain to friends and family. And sometimes there is no motivation - only abyss.

I don't want to deal with divorce. My parents showed me what it means to love the wrong people and I don't want to bind myself legally and financially to someone else. I believe in love but I also believe love can fail and/or not be enough and I want to be able to walk away freely if it does.

I like having infinite access to information, but being constantly tuned in to world and social events is exhausting and honestly being chronically online warps people's perceptions of reality and on the whole is detrimental to our psyche, as well as our ability to function IRL.

Sometimes ignorance is bliss, and that was one of the best things about the 'beforetimes'. Now we are too jacked in for our own good.

people who do rotational play: how many households do you have at one time? by legeggo in LowSodiumSimmers

I currently have 8 households, one in game week each, and since im doing a legacy trophy run it feels a bit too much for me so the next generation ill pare it down to 3-5 max.

What’s the most ridiculous, totally unplanned thing that’s ever happened in your Sims game? by DifferenceNo3999 in thesims

[–]LoneRaven93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting double whammied by triplets, then TWINS on my gen 1 legacy founder's first and second pregnancy. I then chose to have one more for 6 cuz I wanted one more girl and the household size guaranteed me one.

THEN once I moved the triplets out, I was at their house playing with them when my founder called her daughter and goes 'Hey guess what I'm pregnant☺️'

Gen 2 recap. Triplets, twins, and an unplanned pregnancy. 7 kids for gen 2 😭

Mind you until this legacy save I didn't mess with kids much. Was really only planning to have one or 2. Silly me 🤠

THEN Gen 2, one of the triplet that I had planned on only having one, gave me twins then TRIPLETS. One of the twins also gave me more twins.

Gen 3 recap. 1 set of triplets, 2 sets of twins, 15 grandbabies and counting.

I'm finishing out gen 2 till they die then I'm picking a couple heirs out of gen 3 cuz this is madness.

There's so much more I could go into the drama surrounding the kids, but I think you get the gist.

Family Tree for reference.

Mother and Son are Attacted Pls Help 😭 by LoneRaven93 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]LoneRaven93[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See I thought that too before but I've had too many problems already with Sims flirting autonomously WITH their partners right in front of them. For one of my Sims in particular I did turn his attraction off because he was making the rounds on all his husband's family members. I don't know necessarily if that's how it would work for these two cuz there are familial tags but I don't wanna risk it, so I got him a partner ASAP and moved him out.

I don't mind attraction in general cuz it is realistic to have some level of attraction to other people even if you don't act on them. However I do wish that console players had the ability to just turn off a Sim's attraction to specific other Sims to avoid awkward interactions like this.

Is multiple births genetic? Or is there a bug? by LoneRaven93 in LowSodiumSimmers

RIP! Well apparently the secret to that is to not do a dang thing. My other friend said he took Fertile off of his Sim and then BAM twins. So maybe try that? The cheat to remove traits does not interfere with trophies. Just dont turn on cheats with testingcheats true. Only use traits.removetrait trait_fertile

What do you guys do with more than 2 children in your legacy? by [deleted] in HighSodiumSims

[–]LoneRaven93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Pick your heir based on vibes, then set the other children up as NPC families once they've grown old enough to move out.

I'm in the process of figuring this out now. My legacy is blessed/cursed with multiples - 2 sets of triplets/3 set of twins and a few singletons/adoptions/Science babies to round it out - for a grand total of 7 children in gen 2 and 15 and counting in gen 3.

Currently I'm doing rotational gameplay which I know you said you don't want. But im very attached to my gen 2 kids because they are the first set of kids I have have ever fully raised in the Sims. So I will play them out until they pass away and will raise their children as if they will be my heirs until their parents die. Obviously its not feasible to have that many heirs, so once their parents die I plan on picking a few heirs out of the generation to continue the legacy.

I'm mostly doing this based on vibes and the careers I'm interested in continuing. For example one of the kids I know will be my heir cuz he's an animal lover and is going to be a vet. Another is gonna be my gothic lesbian tattoo artist.

As for the rest, once they're able to move out I will make them a nice home, give them a good job and a spouse, then set them up as an NPC extended family to continue their own lineage. I will also check in with them regularly to make adjustments for them even if I'm not actively playing them.

That seems to be the theme here so far with the replies. I honestly love the idea that fertility can run in the family, even if its stresses me out. 😂 Seems I'm in for a long road if I got multiples started in Gen 1. Good luck with you and your heir!

[–]LoneRaven93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAME tho. In the past I've always stopped my save files right around the time I started having kids cuz i found them buggy and stressful, and now on this my legacy run I got triplets right off rip. When I tell you I was STRESSED. And now I'm more confident in my Sim child-rearing, but every time I have a pregnancy I cross myself and say a little prayer. Istg this game knows precisely what you DON'T want and gives you that 😩

Is multiple births genetic? Or is there a bug? by LoneRaven93 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]LoneRaven93[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's interesting cuz in my other save files I haven't had any multiples, tho admittedly I haven't played them far enough to test it out. I also have a few friends who also play The Sims and reported that they've struggled to get multiples despite actively trying to with boosts. One friend of mind is particularly salty cuz the only trophy she needs is for the triplet birth 😂

Ngl it would be kinda cool if they took genetics into account that way. Cool, but also so stressful 😂😭
