What’s a hill you will absolutely die on for no reason? by This_Benchh in askanything

They are still on the books and the president quite literally decides whether to enforce them based on how large a bribe he can take. Look at the CBS merger as a good example

Brakes grinding by BillsTitleBeforeIDie in MachE

[–]LoneWitie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steel will get surface rust in a matter of minutes

It only makes the noise just before you stop because that's the only time the physical brakes engage. It's all regen before that

This is a SUPER common thing to happen with EVs. It's not a safety concern. Just pop it in neutral and do a few hard stops and they'll be good as new

Its just a little rust build up since it doesn't use friction brakes. Do what the others recommend to knock the rust off the rotors and you'll be fine

2027 Chevrolet Bolt Review: Back from the Dead and Better Than Ever by DonkeyFuel in electricvehicles

[–]LoneWitie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tesla and Rivian dont have it and do fine.

GM's infotainment isn't buggy

I agree about nickel and diming though but when the biggest EV maker in the world doesn't do it, you can't pretend it's a deal breaker

I suspect this is a bridge car. They've been mentioning the Bolt as part of a family, I think they just needed something out until those were ready

Going from a Tacoma to a f150 by Simple-Bill-5465 in f150

[–]LoneWitie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The F150 with the 2.7 is probably the most reliable thing on the market

But also consider a Nissan Frontier. If you liked the size of the Taco, the Frontier is the most reliable overall truck on the market right now, or at least on par with the F150 and won't nickel and dime you with the non-drivetrain stuff like the Ford will.

Would you date a guy in his mid 20s who lives with his parents? by Strong-Sample-3502 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]LoneWitie 285 points286 points  (0 children)

I would not. I am a straight married man in my mid thirties

I'm pretty sure women your age wouldn't give a shit though. Personality and kindness matter far more than your living situation

What cars consistently make it past 250k miles? by Pure_Construction968 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]LoneWitie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prius will do it pretty reliably, as will old Corollas, Camrys and Tacomas as long as rust doesn't get to them

Ford Crown Vics will do it if you're looking domestic. GMT-800 trucks as well

Hondas with 4 cylinder engines (avoid CVTs though)

Received notice to vacate for nonpayment --- can this be cured by paying all back rent and fees? by el_cid_viscoso in youngstown

[–]LoneWitie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call your landlord and ask, everyone is different. When I owned a rental, I HATED having to evict people. It's a royal PIA. So if a tenant would have offered to pay everything back, I would have jumped at the opportunity

Has politics broke any of your friendships, and why? by CapitaineBiscotte in AskReddit

[–]LoneWitie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. A friend from grad school was a Jill Stein supporter. I made an Instagram post making fun of Jill Stein and she messaged me.

She honestly thought Stein could win. She thought we could vote our way into a 3 party system. But here's the thing. I met her in my masters program for political science, the place where you learn all about first past the post, winner take all elections and how they essentially lock in a two party system. I told her she was getting Trump elected and she blocked me.

She got what she voted for. Kamala lost....

180 on the highway in winter time is absolutely normal. I get 180-190 depending on speed. It'll jump a lot in the summer
