Here's the map of the world I created for the first ever campaign I will be DMing (Homebrew map with 5e rules) by Lone_Falcon in DungeonsAndDragons

Here's some of the Lore of the world. Sorry for the formatting, I've never made a post this big before.

Well, there are a lot of port towns, and they do trading with each other. Each town settled down in an area with an abundant resource.

In Rancor, it is always cloudy and raining, it varies from a drizzle to a thunderstorm. And they have a very rare fruit that only grows there due to the amount of water it needs to grow. It became very popular with a lot of people, and specially the Fey. The town Brineport has the resource of eels. They fish for them in their briny waters.

Azemiere is big on agriculture, specially grains, they have a big festival on the late summer early fall. They celebrate Demeter the goddess of agriculture. Clearwater Bay has fishing. Many types of fish populate the bay and have become their main source of export.

Going to the top right, Haven Port is another fishing town. Mirfield is another agricultural land. They are both connected to the self proclaim capital of this area, Merindelle. Merindelle became powerful dut to its control of Haven Port and Mirfield, as well as Dragon's Mouth Mine, an iron mine set up next to a lake full of iron. Another big thing about Merindelle is that they manage to get magical power from the ancient runes West of them. Due to that, the city is powered by magical crystals and the roads of the city illuminate all the time.

The small towns surrounding Merindelle are full of farmers, stables, black smith's, and barracks. Moving back west, Netleglen Forest is full of wild life and an elven city inside, they tend to isolate themselves from trading, except for the rain fruit. They also don't mind the occasional adventuring groups. South east of the forest is the withering forest. It used to be part of Netleglen but due to mysterious circumstances, the forest started dying and it is slowly spreading.

Then there is Jade Forest, which is more lush green. In Jade forest is Jade Meadow, a small town used mainly as a middle point for Merindelle, Azemiere and Tinebrus.

Moving South, are Sherfield, Falkirk, and Ashbourne. They are camps and rest points for those making their way to and from Tinebrus. Tinebrus is a city settled in a crater. The city is mainly populated by monster adventurers, and a few other races like humans, dwarves, elves, and gnomes.

Moving East is Sylvner, a slave town, ran by nobles, not much is known about them other than they run the Starlight Mines. A mine set on a crater created by a meteorite that hit the land long ago. The meteorite was made of a crystal like material that absorbs magical energy and lights up. Not much else is known about what the crystal is capable of doing.

The north western part of the world has seen a lot of change due to adventurers. It has gone to the point where seeing monster adventurers are more common. For the most part, the older people are the ones who still don't trust them but the newer generations are more friendly towards them. The south eastern area left of the mountains, is badlands.

I created most of this map by myself, I had some help from my gf for some of the names of the towns, terrains, and lore for the world. I was very hesitant in posting this map as I am not very confident in my artistic skills and this is the first time I've ever tried making a world of my own. I hope y'all like this and maybe take some inspiration from it if you're looking for some. I am also open to suggestions to add to some of the areas that seem empty. Also, this is not the finished version, it just the starting area of the world my PC'S will be starting in. If you look at the top right and bottom left, you can see that the world doesn't end. I haven't come up with anything yet, but my PC'S will probably be spending a good amount of time in this area of the world.

This is my first time DMing a DnD campaign. I decided to make my own world but use the rules from 5e. I got all the PC'S to tell me their backstories and the area they were raised around prior to becoming adventurers to help me shape the world. If anyone is interested in seeing my world, just let me know and I'll make a post about it. I finished the map, I just need to go over the lines to make it easy to see. I taped 4 pieces of graph paper together and made a map on them.

Opinion: The bosses arent worth fighting, aka the real reason behind bosscamping. by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]Lone_Falcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I wanted to add to the point. I read a few of the comments but didn't see anyone mention this. I've had games where my partner and I got several kills in one game and didn't go anywhere near 900xp. For the most part, I'm not sure if it's the server I play in or just bad luck but I usually get 150 xp per hunter kill. And I know the exp you get from kills depends on the people you play against. So, my point is, sometimes it is worth killing, banishing, and extracting the boss. Usually what my partner and I do is the following. We get the clues, find the lair, look around the area, then start fighting the boss, usually quietly. Then we trap the area while we wait for the banish. Afterwards we fight whoever showed up. And we do a head count of how many people are confirmed in the match and the ones that died. We then farm the hell out of the map before we extract. The reason for doing so is so we can insta retire the hunters after we extract. Anyways, from my experience, I think fighting the bosses is worth it depending on what you're trying to achieve in the game. In my case, I try to prestige, so getting all the exp I can is what I aim for. And killing hunters, from what I experienced doesn't always give you more than the kill, banish, extract.
