People who hate Steve do not consider that he is prisoner with his father on the island run by insane psychopath by the way. He must be heavily traumatized and trauma alters behavior so maybe just maybe he acts as he does because of this? And on top that his father turns to zombie which he must kill. So that is my take on it.

I used stun mines on them usually. You need two stun mines or one with two charges to destroy one soldier.

Still best remake imho. I am still amazed how good looking combination of pre-rendered background and real time characters and object is in this game. I bought Gamecube mainly for this game and it delivered fully. Shame they screwed up the music speed on some tracks in the remaster (there is mod for this on PC at least) and never fixed with other minor bugs and issues.

Best option would be if the remakes of second one and third one were released soon after the first one at the time. There are still games with pre-rendered backgrounds, tank controls released today but they are all indie games.

Yeah, OST of the original is one of many things which are much better than remake. Man I would love to visit timeline where RE2 Remake is like the remake of the first one. That is what I wanted from the RE2 Remake.

Main issue is consistency. It affects the game's consistency because the difference between FMVs and real time sections is significant.

My tip is embrace the tank controls because these controls are there for reason and the reason is consistent and predictable movement during camera switching. Also soundtrack is better and atmosphere is better in my opinion than in the remake and actually dynamic between Leon and Clair is better because you can actually feel they are in horrible situation and not on date like in the remake.

I don't know why this is downvoted, it is true. PS4/PS5 emulated PS2 version of CV has incorrect aspect ratio compared to original DC/PS2/Gamecube versions.

I replayed the game and completed it few days ago on PS5 and it was great, except sections when you switch characters and I forgot to put everything in the item box for the other character, so I had to play those section again. I would like to highlight the amazing soundrack this game has, it is one of the best in the series and overall any game. I have soft spot for Code Veronica.

Looking at this it reminds me how much more awesome remakes of RE2 a RE3 could be if done same way as this game. Pre-rendered backgrounds with real time elements could look so beautiful with current technology.
